Excellent Story

Cheating is a very destructive thing no matter which one does it, not a happy story but well written, thanks.

A woman finally realizes she isnt the center of

everything. She is just a slut that ruined herself, her marriage, and in a way her husband. Maybe she just needs to terminate herself she is so useless and uncaring for the hatred she heaped upon her husband by her actions.

Nice Snapshot

One wonders how she and Chaz found themselves cheating if she felt so strongly about her husband. People who do not read literotica loving wives tales are always being surprised by the price of betrayal! They never evaluated the probable results.

Flash stories are a lazy writers way of not having to do the work of developing characters and plot. As you indicate, just a scene. Unfortunate in that the scene is written quite well.

Very nice work

In a very short piece you were able to tell us all we need to know about these two people. Well Done. I disagree with the one comment that a flash story is a lazy way to write. I have written several stories myself and for me a "flash" story is very hard to do. It takes a lot of work to paint the entire picture in a few words. Like you work, please keep it up.

Maybe no sympathy..but understanding

I liked the story. A kind of which there is far too little of at times. It was realistic and poignant and reflected what happens to people AFTER the divorce. We fail to recognize that a divorce changes everyone involved no matter what the reason. The wife changes, the husband, even the kids.

Good effort!

OH, for those who don't get it...the Opposite of Love is not Hate. It is Indifference!

Character development?

In a flash story, it is about the emotions. They are like a picture, they are worth a thousand words..... The emotions elicited by this quick story are extremely deep and poiniant. Great story!!!

Wow...Short and to the point.

The wife in this story has condemned herself to her own personal hell. I would have liked to hear why she trashed her marriage. Was it a slow death or quick and painful after the discovery of her betrayal?

Very nice!

One thing that I usually comment on with most authors is that of grammar and style.

Things they get wrong. Continual mistakes they make.

I don't know who is doing your editing or if my grammar scanner is broken but I haven't read a single story yet (only three so far) where I've noticed a glaring mistake.

Short and sweet story.

Didn't Want To

I really did not want to feel sorry for her but I did. A bit more information on what she had done to end her marriage would probably have cured that.

Seeing a cheating ex-wife realize that her husband moved on without her, in fact acting like she never existed, makes her humiliation complete. She still should have caught aids, however.

Who Did She Cheat On

Interestingly this story points out that while cheaters cheat their spouses out of a marriage, they do the same to themselves and worse. They cheat themselves out of their honor, self respect, the respect of all who know them and the future that they had worked for years to obtain.

Regrets

She will have more regrets to come in her future. Harold will move on, she will not. She may continue to drift from man to man, but what kind of man would want a cheating wife? No man she could ever respect. If she tried to keep her past a secret, then that secret will be a wedge between them. Either way, she will always regret her actions if only for the selfish reason that it was bad for her, let alone Harold.

Hate is an emotion

Meaning that you still feel SOMETHING towards her. Nothing hurts more than indifference. It means that she is so small in your memory that she doesn't matter either way to you. It means that she matters so little that she cannot even evoke a simple emotion from you. The best vengeance anyone can reap on another, is to forget them completely, while they are still fixated on you!

I don't think he's really indifferent to her

Unless he's a total ass, most people wouldn't tell someone who had cooked for them that she wasn't a good cook. They might say, "it was a little over done for me," or something like that. He was doing fine at ACTING indifferent until that barb. Fortunately for him, she didn't catch his slip.

AnonymousAnonymousover 9 years ago
sdc97230, I think your wrong

I have a child with my ex-wife and other than dealing with the child. She is a non factor in my life. I think about her as much as dust on my car. You wash it off and keep going. She married the guy she cheated with and the only thing I ever tell him is don't touch my son. One night he got drunk and put her ass in the hospital. Her mom call and asked could she stay with me, I said no and life went on. She asked if I could help her get an apartment. I said no, because it would take money out of my and my sons household. Then she went and tried to get custody back. It was a no go because she signed it away because of her husband. Now I'm married and we have a 5 member family and she has nothing. She just doesn't exist.

Opposite of love

The opposite of love is not the hate but the neutrality. Her exhusband reached the neutrality now and he was honest at the end. She did not reach the neutrality so his neutrality was a very good ROMANTIC REVENGE SITUATION!

Opposite of Love is Indifference!

I do agree with duna's comments regarding neutrality.

I have GF's to be up set that I have ignored them in public. Some how after they have cheated or end the relationshipbetween us as it was them that had changed. Only to see them teo weeks later with a new man, strange that !

I always believe best revenge is a life well lived and that's what i did. Ended up marring a lovely woman, made enough money to be comfortable. I know some of my ex GF's are in rented accommodation as their financial situation due to their partners did not work out that well for them, ha, ha, lol

Good story, original for this site.

I liked the fact that he was able to just go on with his life. I'm sure he still felt something for his wife, but after being betrayed by her cheating, he had a choice of crying and pissing and moaning or sucking it up and going on with his life. Nothing to be gained from crying all the time. He did nothing wrong, if we can believe the clues from the story so why should he show he is weak and dwell on his loss? Ego is not a character flaw, it is in fact a sense of self and self worth. We all have it and the only people who don't want men to have a good sense of self worth are psychologists and the women who are trying to manipulate them. Thanks for sharing your story.

A Great Prototype

I wish more authors would follow this theme. The real test of moving on is indifferance to your ex. What they are doing, where they are going, who they are seeing should be immaterial to you. Never ask the kids about her. If you are brought together at family events be polite but avoid conversation. When she realizes she elicited no emotional response from you she'll understand that she is in the past and no longer relevant in your life.

Nice, quick take of the aftermath of a well-known story.

Very cool to see the perspective of the cheater instead of the cheated, this time around.

You never felt sorry for the girl, though, and end up loving the fact her ex completely moved on from her - a sad rarity in those type of stories.

Wish that most married sluts that got dumped felt at least half of the pain this one seems to be going through...

Very nice. Very, very nice.

Buyers Remorse?

We had been married for over thirty years when my wife in not a nice way asked me to leave, She didn't want me around her anymore. I asked her to give me at least a chance to find somewhere to live since I didn't have that much money to my name. Wow!! When I told my manager at work what had happened that day. he says. "Hold on I think I can help you." Well that day he found me a one bedroom house through one of his friends. It was fifty miles away from where I used to live with my wife. Yes I had been commuting fifty miles everyday for thirteen years. Wow!! Word spread around like wildfire, before you know it I was dating most every night taking a different girl home for the night. I never failed in sending my wife a check every week to cover bills and some extra for her and my daughter. About two months later my wife started showing up at work, taking me coffee and cookies or a sandwich, she had gone on a diet and lost over twenty pounds. then she started inviting me over because as she said it. My daughter missed me. Long story short. we got back together again. She never went back to whom she had been before. She died the year we celebrated our fourty fifth anniversary.

The value of Women is way too overrated in society. There was a time, when men had to “ earn” being between their legs. Obviously, procreation was not treated lightly. You want a woman, you marry her. So modern science now has created solutions to the problem. You procreate, but can control if and when, you have a child. This was supposed to give women control over their bodies, and freedom. What I actually see, is women giving it up for nothing. Their sex no longer has any value. There is no reason, for a young man to get married. There are more divorced women 45-55, than Oriental Carp, in the Illinois river. Once what ever beauty they have fades, and age creeps up, they are destined to live out life alone. How sad, how poetic.

AnonymousAnonymousover 2 years ago

It was a sad story that reflected that in the end they both lost. Her affair may have been the spark that destroyed a five year marriage but in the end they both lost the love they once shared.

DrgwngDrgwngover 2 years ago

Very good. MGTOW is gaining in popularity at the same rate marriage rates are decreasing. Women have ruined it and it no longer makes sense monetarily, emotionally nor societally for men to walk the aisle. Modern society rules have taught many young men how to be entirely out of touch with their own feelings. Their children are not even theirs as men have zero rights and zero decision power in matters of dispute or paternity. Why do fems fight and lobby so hard against making in hospital paternity tests as part of the full standard suite of services at birth? The answer is obvious when you consider in most states men have limited time window in which to question, before accepting all financial responsibility for t he child in question.

iameaseliameaselover 2 years ago

Well done!!!

Sorry Drgng this is sheer idiocy "Women have ruined it and it no longer makes sense monetarily, emotionally nor societally for men to walk the aisle."

Try and check your misogyny before you post. Cons are such fragile little snowflakes when it comes to women, seems they really feel threatened these days. Find that safe space kid.

AA82ndAAAA82ndAAabout 2 years ago

I don't get this woman at all. Woman cheats. Now she is angry when he shuts off. Where is it said or written that the victim must be heartbroken? Also why is it his responsibility to care? It reads like she is an attention whore, and he is getting "revenge' by moving on with his life. Best "get even plan" is to live a good life. No fuss, no muss just apathy. BTRH

AnonymousAnonymousabout 2 years ago

Nice little story. 5*'s. While her actions at the restaurant are understandable, so are his. She cheated, he responded with divorce. Now she is sorry and he has responded with indifference. She wants him back by trying to get him jealous, he doesn't seem to notice. She reminds him of the good times, (pasta), he responds with the truth that it wasn't that good and he doesn't miss it. She has no more cards to play. He will find others to satisfy his needs. She may not. For such a short story, so much more is dealt with. Thanks.

AnonymousAnonymousalmost 2 years ago

Ha ha! Good little story. As has been mentioned, the difference between men and women, are their thought processes. She cuts him out of her life emotionally, then physically. But for some unknown reason only a woman can understand, it’s important to her, that he still misses her. Here is a news flash. Guys get divorced. They either allow themselves to wallow in pity, or they move on. Woman like to constantly second guess everything. Men make a decision, follow through on it, and accept the consequences. That’s life ladies. Deal with it.
