"Yes. I thought the food was very good and the atmosphere was quite pleasant. The restrooms were a nice size too."

OK, amongst her innumerable other skills, Dakota can give a restaurant review off the top of her head. When I looked back at the elder, he was giving me the damnedest odd smile. He looked over to Chang and something passed between them. Remember when you were a kid and adults talked about something you did? Yeah, it felt like that.

"So be it," he continued, returning his attention back to me. "You may go there as you please. There is no reason that those whose livelihood centers on that restaurant should suffer. Do you wish him removed from your territory back to the Middle Kingdom?"

I looked to Chang, who shrugged, leaving the decision to me. I saw he was still prostrated. Clearly, he wanted to stay. My biggest concern was basically that this be really over. Considering everybody was now on the same page, I decided it was. Besides, if this guy fucked up again, I didn't think there would be anything anybody could do or say to keep his sorry backside from going directly back to China. Do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars. Or whatever dragons used as currency.

"No, that's all right. As long as he leaves me alone, we're cool."

The elder nodded. "They have shown you mercy, Qiang. Be thankful for it. More importantly, remember, if I have to come back I will not be leaving alone."

He bowed respectfully to Chang. "Again, my apologies for this most unfortunate situation. You have my word, it will not happen again. If there is nothing further, we will take our leave."

Chang dipped his head in response. "Apology accepted. Go in peace, and may there be ongoing peace between us."

And then the two dragons were gone.

gweilo,

When I worked in Hong Kong it was translated as white devil. They also preceded it with crazy.

Other titles...

You must read "The Dragon and the George". I believe it's by Dickson. Quite engaging.

Criticism By Idiots

Your story is great. Remember this when they comment stupidly. I've been talked about worse by better. They are most definitely NOT better

To ANONYMOUS

Why don't you shove your criticism up your ass and leave us to read these stories peacefully?

Sincerely,

Anonymous :D

and now the post I wanted to write in the first place

First off, your writing is great, and ignore people who are out to insult you, or, better yet, read "Always Anonymous", by Transverse -- it shows authors how to deal more easily with jerks, and it's humorous as well. Anyways, I'm also glad to see that your chapters are growing in length, because it showcases your skills as a writer much better, and, from where I type, those skills deserve the showcasing: keep on writing!

oh wow, look!

A biting comment with scathing words by some Anonymous asshole! That's never been done before! Putz.

If you're going to criticize a story, you should at least have the courtesy to do 3 things.

1. LEAVE YOUR NAME. Duh. That's a pretty basic step in common courtesy.

2. Leave constructive criticism -- tell the author exactly what you didn't like, and why, and politely suggest what they might have done instead.

3. Remember this above all else: The author is CHOOSING to write these stories, and unless you can come up with something yourself which is clearly better, don't say they're a bad writer, because I'll bet you've never tried it yourself -- I have, and it's hard; not everyone is J. K. Rowling. You don't have to read their stories, so if you don't like them, don't read them.

Also, use proper grammar and spelling when posting, sheesh. If I had a dollar for every shoddily written post, I'd have quite a bit of money right now.

Disregard Anonymous you have a good story. Keep writing

The story may be a bit derivative but must stories are. Every chapter is better than the last so I say it's headed in the right direction. Every culture, nation and race has members who hate anyone who's different and seek to use others for profit. Americans used the Chinese to build the railways and settle the west, the Chinese used the surrounding nations as frontline troops and to build the great way for the silk trade. The only way to end racism is to do so within and be an example to others.

Ignore the naysayers you spin a good tale and I am glad to read it.

...that's your plot twist? 'Oh god, no, racism against white people!'? 'Look how ridiculously cartoonish and irrational I'm going to sloppily write this terrible, unreasonable dude who has a grudge against people who profit off of systematic abuse and discrimination towards his people!' Oh, but at least your ~hero~ has a Wise Asian Mentor bit character to intervene, because that's never been done to death in appropriative stories.
