Very nicely done. A small part of me is thinking, "More, please." But a larger part is thinking, "This is a perfect ending."

I haven't seen the Nicholson/Lange version of the film, though the Lana Turner/John Garfield version is very good.

Loved the story, unfortunately your right, short and sweet. Too short, deserves a chapter 2. You never disappoint me in your talents in developing real characters with range and like ability. As always, I’m a true fan and cannot wait till your next piece.

I don't think I can quite express just how much I like your occasional chill, "sappy" (your description) stories. Don't get me wrong, I love the big complicated six-parts-with-ten-pages-each life stories with at least one tragic death that crop up here, but sometimes they feel like a lot of work, too - and these stories do not, and I can get lost in them for like 20 minutes and feel a little better about the world. So: Thanks for doing what you do :)
