A story of a lifetime that even transcends life ...

It is beautiful and touching. It is also comforting that the end of a life is not the end of the story.

Thank you.

Dr beulahthemick; A lovely story of true love, beautifully told, it didn't need any sexy scenes in it, to entice one to read all of it and the ending was just lovely, together for ever. Five stars from me.

What a lovely tale of love, loss, and a reunion of souls in the beyond. Thank you!!!

What a lovely story, true love is the same, despite the players. You can't read this without an Irish accent talking back to you. I heard Maureen O'Hara speaking to me, one of my favorites from the Quiet Man. May she be in Heaven an hour before the Devil kniows she's dead. Wonderful reading

Oh my . Well Maonaigh what can I say , this was beautiful writing , truly beautiful. You had me feeling every emotion going . The deep sadness , the loss but done in a dignified way , the humour with the shop keeper and telling the priest to fuck off , yup my kind of gals. The love , not just between Siobhan and Kathleen but also the aunt . I like very much how you structured the story starting near the end then telling us dear readers how your wonderful characters got to that point and then that ending, wow , I'll give no spoilers on that one. A stonkingly good and very moving story that had me smiling and a tear in my eye too . Thank you dear Moanaigh , another 5 stars for you and place in my favourite box . Jc

Thank you; beautiful/heartwarming and all the more so because this reader and I am sure others knew where you were taking us. Your two heroines so believable/knowable and so clearly in love with one another.

Love Story

What a beautiful love story. Well written main characters, likeable supporting characters. But the true star of the story is the love they shared that transcended all else. You really captured that. Thank you for this.

I have no words that could express how much this story has touched me. Hopefully, my tears will suffice.

I like your ghost stories. Okay, the wise-cracking private detective stories are my favorite, but the other-worldly and spooky ones are a close second. This one is of the very best kind... a ghost story with a happy ending! You really make the characters come alive (no pun intended) with the way you write them. Five stars all the way.

Count me among those who cried like a child at the end, yet found comfort there. Just yesterday, I lost a friend and mentor from my music days, and this gave me solace. Thank you.

Wonderful story. One slight error noted but what an evocative piece. I think it would have been highly rated in the Halloween contest if entered. 5⛤ easily.

Lovely story of true love that transcends all else. If only everyone could experience a love like this, the world would be a better place in which to live.

This was a true work of art. I'm simply unable to sculpt a fitting description or express my gratitude for having it in the world.

So beautiful and lovely!! Such a rich setting too, really felt like I was in Ireland!

ThebiffThebiffover 1 year ago

So very beautiful. By coincidence I’m in Dublin as I read this. The tears in my eyes are not just from a wonderful story but for all of those people who were bullied and hounded by the Church. I’m English but 4th generation Irish (so can’t apply for nationality) but love my roots. Thank you for a story that shows modern Ireland as it is now. A wonderful country full of wonderful people of all orientations, colours and creeds.

A beautiful story. When you introduced it as a Halloween story I though, oh maybe not but I was pleasantly surprised by the story. It brought back a lot of memories like the Prague Spring, My Lai and who could forget Nixon? You managed to cover the history of Ireland from 1968 until now, it's been through a lot of changes and yes the power of the church has thankfully been diminished. It was a sad story though but that's the beauty of it, the inevitability that none of us live forever. Thank you for sharing Kathleen and Siobhan with us.

Tears, tears, tears ...... A broken heart and broken soul cant heal ....... I have no idea to sum the pain then your soulmate after 50 years is leaving someone behind ...... Even my heart now is hurt is taken ....... Its rare finding couples connected to each other with pure innocent love , older or younger ones ...... We humans search for exactly this soulmate and if we are truly lucky it will happen

Thank you for this lovely romance 💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝🍀

I have found that the older I get, the more sentimental I get.

I have long lost the fear of my own eventual demise, and if there is indeed an afterlife then I know there will be someone waiting for me with open arms.

You know how much I love all your stories, but this one stands above the others and it would take the remainder of my days to illiterate the reasons.

Suffice to say a brilliantly bittersweet tale, full of the love and longing we have come to expect from a talented writer.

LittleTeaCupLittleTeaCupover 1 year ago

A beautiful mixture of love, tragedy, and humour. Well penned, excellently put together.

"I'll tell you what we'll do, Father Duggan, we'll carry on the way we are, sinful and unnatural and minding our own business, and you can fuck off!"

That line made me grin.

"Yes, Kathleen, home... where Siobhan is waiting for you..."

And that line brought tears to my eyes.

I hope that one day I will attain a talent as capable yo generate such a story as this.

Samhain when the veil is thin... What a beautiful, beautiful literary tale worthy of being found in a short story collection. It captured their love so perfectly and was a delight to read. Although I'm not Irish, I could hear their voices and even imagine the landscape around them. Thank you for writing this little gem.

I've been writing semi-pro since the 1960s, most of my stories falling under the blanket heading of weird tales. However, I'd written nothing for 5-6 years because my wife was very ill and disabled and care for her was my priority. Some months after her death in December 2013 ...
