Funny, I started to not read this, but then after beginning it grew on me. So I finished it quickly and was delighted. It deserves more than five stars. It could easily be fleshed out into a very good and marketable fantasy novel. Even a two or three book series, Good work!

The question of whether or not I would read this story was a forgone conclusion. I will read ANYTHING BurntRedstone writes and savor them as one would a five star meal, in the best restaurant, atop a spire, overlooking the vista, in the company of whom makes your heart sing. This story was no exception. Though I could see the protagonists being drawn to each other early on, the quirks and diversions were delightful in their respective journeys. Characters well fleshed out and the wicked and the just all getting their respective desserts. Well done but then again, I've come to expect nothing less of this very talented writer. What a wonderful, sweet and original story. The sex scenes are tender, erotic, sexy and meaningful, too.

Typically excellent. Is this a typo? "The joy that appeared on Kharza's face caught... ???? No complaint,, just thought Kharza was the person being teased and responding.

"I understand Eryllis convinced you to nurse our daughter," Dell teased Kharza with a smile.

The joy that appeared on Eryllis' face caught Dell by surprise as he'd never seen the female warrior look so content before.

"Yes, her magic opened my eyes to what I've been missing and showed me what I have been denying myself as punishment for having survived that night. We will be making a child of our own soon," Kharza said as she held his eyes.

Just amazing. You write such wonderful characters. A continuation of these people as heroes on a quest or solving a mystery would be pretty cool....perhaps finally ending the stigma about halflings in the wood elf and human communities? You'd kill at that storyline.

Couldn't help but love Kharza, and the angst you created with Dell and Eryllis radiated as so palpable. What a great intro to begin the circle of the weapons with the Wood Elf, Human and Dwarf, to then be concluded by those two who could wield the weapons and control them too. Unparalleled detail and tying off loose ends. 5

I wondered about the opening story of the staff and sword. Did you consider making it a legend retold, instead of a factual recounting?

I found myself playing with that notion of reframing the beginning, "there is a legend of..." - It could separate the backstory nicely while crafting the setting for the main tale - and would give you a different kind of writer's license - some fun along the "some say x, some say y" line - this bit of remembered poetry from that ancient storyteller, etc.

Would make it clear it's backstory, too, without your needing to announce it quite. Would let you play with the discovery Eryllis and Dell make in their not-quite-battle as to where the evil comes from more as a reveal - you allude to this in the mages' realization about why earlier efforts to break the curse on the staff and sword fail, so it's clear there is awareness in the learned community about this history, and so ways to weave our discovery of the backstory into the story itself.

I love this story due to how I can relate to dell. It really resonates with me how the humans and elves treat him. My family is similar my father's side hates me because my mother is Caucasian and my mother's side hates me cause my father is African American. It was nice to see a story that touches on those kinds of emotions and actions.

Absolutely loved it, yes it wandered slightly and it would have good to see a peaceful resolution with her Grandmother and the bitches, but then again…karma baby! I could harp on about narrative etc, but to sum up it was a class piece of writing and I didn’t see any errors personally, and unless it spoils my enjoyment of the story I tend not to look for problems. A bit of a slow start, I didn't know what to expect. I really like it though, great story! It's a shame that potentially one of the best scenes was cut-off at the end...why not include it?

I read without a break, enjoying all the chapters. In my opinion the opening doesn't have the fluidity that you have accomplished later. Thank-you for pronounceable names which allow me easy readability. It's great to find fantasy here and I wished for the kind of details in the erotic sections that you do so well in building the psychology of the characters. This is thoroughly enjoyable. I would love to follow the characters into more stories.

Fantastic- just as good the second time to read! Since I finally saw there is a part 2 figured I should refresh my memory. I was correct on most but didn’t remember the ending at all. Definitely well worth the read again. Sadly can’t give 5 stars 🌟 again!
