I came back to read it again, because it is that cleaver. Thank you for spinning the yarn...
To fully appreciate just how brilliant it is you need to read it a second time as soon as you understand the twist.
But why am I not seeing any other comments for a story written over six years back - is my browser throwing a wobbly?
Well done... They are getting better the lower into the alphabet we go! Another 5!
That was a nice twist: didn't see it coming, and actually got me chuckling, which is a rarity in this category. Well done.
Not only did he fix another couple's marriage but it seems he's going to be having some big time fun himself.
Ha
Somehow I voted 5 stars on this one and then forgot to comment! I am getting ancient.
The old jokes were not identical to this story, they had the same superstructure of ideas but were different. Shakespeare "stole" all his plots, but his words! Even in the world of jokes the same written material comes out different depending on which comic is delivering.
Really a nice piece of writing by Britease!

Long time no hear??? Nice little ditty Brit. And I do have a nice pair of red four inch heels....roflmao
Always love your humour Brit, keep them coming.

Sometimes it's the little gems like ths one that put a smile on your face. For the crap I've heaved on some of your stories I retract it!
A well done story, lite humor, almost a tongue in cheek type of story.
I enjoyed the read, thanks .
Yeah, an old joke but still funny. I'd love to be a fly on the wall at the house of the wife that called him.
But come on, "Oh dear!"?????
Fool me once -shame on you
Fool me twice -shame on me
God dang it-you got me again!
Must have been a slow day around the ole pub. Not much original here Brit. I expect more from you. Flawless presentation, just no meat.
Caught me out straight away! Thoroughly enjoyable read, O Henry has nothing on you.
When he said to forget the conversation I figured it out. Very fun little story, thanks for coming up with it.
Unespected, the best story I've read in a very long time, congratulations to one of the best writers in this site.
pretty clever. except, you usually know what your partner voice like even on the telephone. still good, thanks!
I knew right away what was going on, since it was so similar to a comedy routine I heard 30-40 years ago.
That was a Jewish woman calling her Jewish mother, going through a long litany of problems, eliciting sympathetic and helpful responses, followed by mother promising to come right over to take care of things. When they finally realize that she has the wrong number, the daughter says, "Does this mean you aren't coming over?"
Other than that, a good story.
Funny and surprising. I can't say I'm usually fooled by stories with twists, but this one totally drew me in. Excellent job!
Thanks, ohio
