Kismet? What heaven takes away, heaven can give back many fold. (Book of Job?) Happy ending.

Lovely story. My only wish is it could have been much longer.

A fairy tale to be sure, but it was fun reading it. You kinda know what's going to happen,, but watching it all unfold is the pleasure of reading a good story. And it's a pleasure to read something unburdened with today's technology and social burdens. A simpler time, but still quite engaging. 5*

Yet another tender love story, thank you so much. As others have suggested, there is another few storylines that can follow the Gunnarson family. Please start writing them (now!).

Oh my. This is such a beautiful and heartwarming story. It’s not the typical type of story you read on Lit. Thank you for writing it.

Well, This was the last story in the list. I am truly amazed at how good every one of the stories were written. I'll say it again, the best Author at Literotica! Ben will always be my favorite Character. So a huge thanks to Burnt Red Stone for having such a wonderful mind to share his stories with us. Thank you! I have give each and every story of his a 5 star rating, actually, at least 5 BIG FAT BLAZING STARS! Just like this one.

The writer really made Marlena a SLOW DIMWIT CHARACTER yet she is from the city educated but coming to Oregan SHE IS A SLOW DIMWIT. The Preacher's wife is a bitch, like the 2 sisters

Loved it.

I really enjoy it when a Literotica story is basically a really good well written story without censorship of the sex scenes, and that is what I found this story to be.

@Myhands316: What are now Washington and Idaho states were then in Oregon Territory so the geography is accurate enough, if misleading to modern eyes.

Myhands316Myhands316over 3 years ago

Other than a a miss on the geography, which didn't distract from the story... a nice little tale. The Continental Divide in in Wyoming and Idaho and a divided by the high desert plains into western Oregon over the Bozeman Trail to the Sierra's and up into Washington and Canada. So to be in Oregon it would have to be in the lower Snake river valley on the Nez Pierce route. But maybe that's just nit picking.

Great Little Story

This was a great little read. Long enough to suck us in and enjoyable for something quicker to read. I absolutely love your longer series but something short to keep in touch while you churn out the best stuff is very nice as well.

Keep up your fantastic work and THANK YOU for your stories!

A winner

Nice story that is a pleasure to read. The one thing I did question was when Wulf stated that his relatives were coming to the "States". Most simply said they were coming to 'America'. No big deal. With all the killing and dying going on, I kind of kept wondering if Marlena and Wulf would make it to the happy ending, but they did. Thanks for the story.

This story remains unstared by me out of respect for your talent. It is in the genre of “You have to kiss a lot of frogs To find a prince.”

Very enjoyable reading time

Very well written and brought a smile to my face when reading and finishing. You captured the characters very well. Created real emotional feeling within the characters when I read the story. Job well done as a author.

I will have to check out more of your writing.

With your writing skills displayed in this story - please keep writing and I will keep reading.

You do write well

That was a sweet and well told story, thank you! I have yet to find one of your stories that I don't like, all that I've read so far have been delightful. Some that I am doubtful of based on the title, category, or short blurb, turn out to be quite wonderful. I have not found a bad one yet. You are a good writer, and thank you for sharing your tales with us. Bless you! TTFN

Enjoyable

A really enjoyable, pleasant little story with a happy ending. Great. Far too many stories on this site seem so bitter and twisted with brutality rather than respect between partners. I know life isn't always a bed of roses but it's good to have a touch of escapism every now & then. Thanks.

Great Story

I love a happy ending - decent people finding each other and treating each other well. Too many stories on this site are filled with people treating each other horribly, even people they're supposedly in relationships with.

Thank you for restoring my faith in happiness.

And this : "She was doing God's work!" You scared me with that, but it all worked out well in the end.

Wow!

I LOVE this story! All your writing is good and I have to be careful when I read because I cant stop. But this story...wow! Nostalgic, sweet, etc... Well done! Thank you.

Nicely written, but too easy

Not what I’ve come to expect from a BurntRedstone story. It feels a bit rushed as compared to the Shepherd series, or the Ed series. She gets over her family being dead REALLY quickly, and is very excited about being married. Not as many complications as there possibly should have been...

And the blacksmith didn’t end up with six or seven wives, as would normally be the case in a BurntRedstone story! :-)

A well deserved four out of five stars.

And you didn't disappoint. Great story, lots action and romance. Truthful as well, folks did get married quickly back then, especiallh widows and widowers. Thanks for a great read.

A Nice fun little read to lighten the spirits! While I enjoy the dramatic stories you've also written it's nice to have a variety especially when it's a story that just makes you smile!

Real Good!

You did a real good job. I really enjoyed your story. It was entertaining, enjoyable and suspenseful. This was a story of regular people in the old west. I can see things like this happening in those times. The man and woman were just 2 ordinary people that had bad things happen to them and they survived, fell in love and raised a family. Bravo to you, and Thank you for a wonderful story.

Fantatstic!

I really enjoyed this. Interesting characters I couldn't get enough of. Wonderful twists. I especially liked the one sister being too dumb to keep her mouth shut in church. I really did enjoy that. Very well done.

Amazing

...piece! You crafted quite the sense of loss, drama and anticipation towards seeing Wulf and Marlena hitched although it was curious to see how you brought them together through what is part an endearing yet comical misunderstanding! It satisfied me to see the letter thieves removed and you wove a convincing sadness around both Wulf's and Marlena's losses. Having them marry would have modern-day marriage counselors up in arms ("two damaged people cannot fix each other"), but it fit your story and brought a smile to my face--and judging from the comments--smiles to others. Well done on such a time-period piece as this. Very engaging! 5

What a lovely surprise

It's good to be reminded how much life has changed. How much tragedy, pain, and chaos they endured.

From the depths of despair emerges a lovely family, and hope.

Thanks
