For the non Americans who may not be so familiar with the geography of the U.S. it would be nice to have a map of the route. Apart from that great story. You really have to admire those people who made that journey.
life spans were short back then. Without antibiotics, no medical facilities, and no modern medicine, a cut or scratch could be lethal. Not to mention that many women died in childbirth. Times have changed and I'm glad.
