"I always thought it was Issie who created the sexualised environment and Amy who led on the number of times they wanted sex, so maybe you're right. The shaken soda bottle rings true; although that would suggest it will level itself out eventually."

Liddy grinned at me.

"Well it had better. How long do you think a man of your age can continue like it is at the moment?"

"Ouch! But the thought had occurred to me. I suppose that's one of the reasons I thought they eventually needed to find someone their own age. But that doesn't explain Ellen."

"Well she has a slightly different perspective. She acknowledges that, both as a woman and a doctor, her current frequency of sex is abnormal. But she puts it down to the environment. What is normal on the yacht might not be normal in the greater world, but it's sort of contagious and becomes the new norm. Plus she would add there is always that fear of missing out. It's not so much a fear of you rejecting her if she doesn't offer a lot of sex, more of in her own mind becoming a second tier lover if she doesn't keep up with the others. It's a sort of sexual competitiveness. No one's making her, she wants it, but she knows underlying that is an instinctive competitiveness."

"Isn't that bad?"

"I don't think so. I understand the feeling myself and we've only just made love for the first time. I wasn't kidding when I said I wasn't ready to give you back to the others yet. Each for their own reason, you've got a number of women very subtlety competing for your attention. Enjoy while it lasts. I suspect as long as each gets what they want - and to your credit I think they are - everyone is winning."

"So are you ready to give me back to the others yet?"

"No, but I understand it's time for me to do so. I was taught to share nicely, and so clearly were the others, and I know my turn is up."

In a way, Liddy was right. I had promised the girls I'd be back around 10 and it was already past that. It felt a bit strange, but now it was my turn to do the infamous 'walk of shame' as I got dressed in the clothes I'd worn last night for the short walk back to the other yacht.

For the time being Liddy was staying on her friends' yacht. She'd join us for all our day trips, but she felt some obligation to be the yacht's guardian. In return, it was agreed I'd spend every Thursday night on the boat.

That's not to say she only got sex on Thursdays. She took a while to get used to group encounters, but eventually learned to join in; especially when they started with some sort of game on a remote and private beach. And like the others, she found moments when she could sneak me off for a quiet private one of her own.

But Christmas was coming, and with most of us planning on visiting our families, some subtle positioning started to occur.
