I love your series but I cocked up when scoring it

Good job again

Great story, but you should know that water conducts explosions better than air, instead of acting as a buffer, if the octopus aliens are going to be making a return appearance.

Other authors take note:

This is how it's done!

The next chapter had better be LOOOOOONG if it is the last.

There are a lot of details to tie down on this story and it is a first class story for sure. I'm thinking maybe another 20 chapters???? OK, but things do need to be tied down.

5*

No mo' than' a few mo'?

Well, here's hoping life goes smoothly after this!

Also, we REALLY want a sequel...

AnonymousAnonymousover 9 years ago
Arrrrrrghhhh Why is this so frackin' gooooooooood!!!!!?

I'm going to miss this story even more once it ends. It's been a wonderful ride. Ripper, you better have something lined up right after this! I can't go into withdrawals...I just can't! :P

what is this...

Near the end?

There has to be a sequel then.

This is too well developed a "world" to simply abandon.

To the anonymous 4 comments back

I am an author myself, I find your comment offensive. "This is how it's done?" It sounds like you're underestimating us or even trying to teach us a lesson and I think you should respect more the fact that we, as authors, spend many hours of our lives just so you can enjoy our work without spending any money

AnonymousAnonymousover 9 years ago

Tenou,

I read Anon's comment "This is how it's done!" in a positive way and took it to mean that he was stating that RipperFish's writing was excellent.

An example of how that phrase or one similar can be used in a different context would be in sports. When you or a teammate does something well you shout "that's how you do it (baby)!" or "show 'em how it's done!".

I hope that makes sense.

(Love your work btw. Can't wait for chapter 3.)

Absolutely Great

Ripper, I appreciate your work on this story. It is well thought out and suspenseful. I award you the inauspicious "babasluv" (or worthless Pulitzer). This is easily top 3 of the stories I've read on Literotica and Number 1 this year.

Thank you

Excellent Work!

The story has been excellent so far, by any standard, not just compared to what you find on Literotica. The characters and setting have the potential to be truly epic. As a full series, I'd keep them next to my Honor Harrington and Miles Vorkossigan books.

Slight confusion

Hey mate, loved the story, but I got really confused when you decided to bring in an alien race "that was years behind the other races technologically" that was bound by water, and that had water inside their whole ship effective making it a reverse submarine. Because a 1 meter cubed space filled with water weighs a tonne, so for them to be technologically inferior and to be able to design a ship that could theoretically weigh a ridiculous amount.

Otherwise loved your story

response to slight confusion

Your thinking in human terms. This is an alien race with alien tech. There hole existence is base on an atmosphere far different from ours. As such we can not begin to predict how there tech advanced through the ages.

Sincerely

A little confusion

In this chapter many times you mention dogs, but I think you meant cogs.

AnonymousAnonymousover 7 years ago
No, "dogs" is correct...

In the Navy here on Earth they "dog down the hatch...", and a woodworker uses a "bench dog" to hold a work piece to the bench for cutting or sanding. A cog is part of a gear wheel.

Great story Ripper! Looking forward to a sequel, maybe the octo-pussies come back to find out where their scouts got off to...? And the movie quotes are quite amusing.

Love it man. Great action.

You write pretty well. Especially for this genre. Great chapter. Great action. Love this story.

PS- If I can write near as well as you one day I'd be proud. ;-)

Thumbs way up,

I don't know how I missed the Hunt for Red October quote, I've read this story 3 times. "Some things don't react well to bullets in here"

educating people about dogs

dogs

In engineering, a dog is a tool or part of a tool that prevents movement or imparts movement by offering physical obstruction or engagement of some kind. It may hold another object in place by blocking it, clamping it, or otherwise obstructing its movement. Or it may couple various parts together so that they move in unison – the primary example of this being a flexible drive to mate two shafts in order to transmit torque. Some devices use dog clutches to lock together two spinning components. In a manual transmission, the dog clutches, or "dogs" lock the selected gear to the shaft it rotates on. Unless the dog is engaged, the gear will simply freewheel on the shaft.

Just because other countries then the one you live in have different words for similar things doesn't mean what the author wrote is wrong so check before complaining.

this is a great series RipperFish keep up the awesome work.

It was not Sushi

From your description, its Calamari or squid.

Sak77Sak77over 5 years ago
Hey Loragass

Calamari IS squid. It's fried in olive oil, usually after being cut into pieces. I think you were thinking they are squid or octopi? Calamari or Polpo. heh

Once Again, Outstanding!!!!

I just do not want this to end.

I know the end is near, and in the same way with a great book, I hate to see the end in sight.

one of the most epic fight sequences I've read. After all this years this still one of the best sci-fi there is.

Thankyou and hoping for more spinoffs
