"Yes. Which is it to be?" The male voice came from behind her. Marnie froze. She turned, and gave a long drawn-out sigh of relief as she saw that it was Will. He was looking at her and smiling.

"Oh hell! You scared me. I didn't see you come in. I thought you were Barry."

Marnie looked Will up and down, seeing him in a totally new light. In her mind she suddenly pictured him being all the things Vanessa said he was. She was excited. One way or another, she was going to do it.

She was going to have sex with this man who was not her husband.

"I suppose that if Barry doesn't know about it he won't be hurt by it," she said. "But it would be so much nicer if we could get him to agree that he and I should have an arrangement like you two do."

"Nicer, yes, but is it possible?" Vanessa wondered. "There's our dilemma. Who should do what now?"

"Yes," said Will. "What do you plan to do now? Is there something Vanessa and I can do?"

To think about swapping or testing the waters is a very dangerous path as to what you could loose , as for your friends suggestion to try out her husband what is in it for her as she and her husband can't really truly love each other ?

Short solution, when Barry comes into the bedroom tonight, hug him from behind. Run your fingers up and down his chest. Undo his shirt, then the waist band of his trousers. Take it from there as whatever seems good.

In short stop being boring. Barry is not the problem, Marnie is. How dare she leave Barry to do all the work.

Believe me I have had that problem from my wife for far too many years. I am very pleased to say that she sometimes does get the ball rolling herself though. So all is not lost for us as Marnie and Barry are.

I would hate to go to my grave with my last thought having been 'I wonder what it would've been like with somebody else?'.

Seriously?

Does anyone think about 'things they have missed' rather than about the people that are going to miss them?

I suppose there must be a few so lacking in empathy that last thoughts will only be about themselves. That implies they do not care about others in any way other than how they can manipulate them. Sad creatures.

Thanks for the comment, Anonymous

.

As I have said in earlier comments on this and the follow-up stories, Marnie and Vanessa was supposed to be a single story posing a dilemma. I foolishly accepted the commenters' challenge to continue on with the Marnie and Will saga and have regretted it ever since. All I wanted to do was get commenters thinking about whether she should or shouldn't do it and to tell or not tell Barry. Never again will I do what the readers want. I write for my own entertainment.

.

On the other hand, I'm glad that you found amusement in the Seagull series when the old bloke quoted Ellis. (I tossed Perls into that story as well.) We try to bring education to the masses. It's mostly the old bloke, but you can't be married to someone for more than half a century without some of it rubbing off.

.

Any idea of Loving Wives stories being erotic is long gone. The category is mainly full of stories and comments from authors and commenters pushing an agenda of husbands' reactions to their wives wanderings beyond the marital bounds. I tried for eroticism with my first story, but no more. I now flog my alternative to all the other agenda.

Marnie should discuss it with Barry if she did decide to take up Vanessa’s offer. Vanessa and Will are neighbors and Vanessa is close to her daughters. I don’t rate the chances of a one-night stand between Marnie and Will being kept a secret. Imagine if Vanessa goes drinking with Marnie’s daughters and this leaks one as a drunken comment.

Marnie should distinguish between 1) is she bored with Barry because sex whilst enjoyable has become a routine or 2) does she want to experience sex with another person other than Barry. The wandering hands and checklist implies she would like to spice up sex with Barry but can this not be something both can experiment together without having to draw inspiration from an encounter with Will?

The other reason for not taking up Vanessa’s offer is it sounds like Will is having some form of mid-life crisis and Vanessa is trying to “guide” him through this phase by arranging hookups for him (I would recommend counseling). I would just stay clear of the both of them until they sort out their issues.

You can spin a yarn Lue and I like you works of fiction because not only are they well written and structured, you also throw in sufficient content (that one is at liberty to interpret). I fell off the sofa laughing when I came across Albert Ellis being quoted in the Seagull (not something I was expecting in a category largely for narcissistic wet dreamers and where facts are butchered)

TROUBLEMAKER

Marnie was content with her husband and sex life -- until Vanessa. Vanessa points out that others have had and have more or different. To the now discontent Marnie, her solution is something immoral. After all, why should she miss out on what others have?

It could be another area. Suppose Marnie was content with her house and clothes -- until Vanessa. Vanessa points out that others have had and have more or different. To the now discontent Marnie she suggests something immoral (eg. shoplifting, escort services, stealing). After all, why should she miss out on what others have?

Vanessa was a (should I add: "evil"?) troublemaker, stirring up problems where none existed. People all across planet earth miss out on what others have. Some of them live in blissful ignorance. Is it always better to enlighten them? Obviously, sometimes it is (a hurricane is headed straight for you, handling lead/asbestos that way will shorten your life, cigarettes...). Vanessa is not a very good friend.

A friend who feels it necessary to stir up discontent, would provide valid aid (I know where you can get a job/better paying job. This sex manual/video helped Will and I).

The story seeks to explore the dilemma of to-tell or not-to-tell. But the problem may be deeper -- a "friend" disturbing another's life by putting wrong ideas in her mind that she might have been better off never knowing about.

What previous comment, Randi?

I am perplexed by SBrooks comment including Randi in the address and Randi's reply to that comment. The only Randi comment that I can see on this story was made a year ago.

Enlightenment please?

Indeed SB103

As I said here in an earlier comment, I succumbed to requests to provide an answer to the dilemma posed in this story, and as I then said in comments to the two follow-up stories I later regretted that decision.

But, like you, I do believe that Barry should be told before she makes a move. The question then becomes "who best to tell Barry?" and "what to do if Barry doesn't approve?"

I decided that for my story this was one occasion when it would be better for an outsider to bring the news. It would be difficult (although preferable) for the spouse to do it, but that's less likely to lead to a considered decision. So I had Vanessa do it.

All that was interesting to me, and I had plans for Marnie to rebel in the next chapter, but then I lost interest on the way.

Ah well,

As a matter of fact. I did not make the previous comment.

Which makes me wonder who did? Who has access to my password? Who knows how to sign on as me? I made one comment today. It was on malreux'sstory.

Those who know me know I would never make that comment on this story. I'll be changing my password now. I'll also be asking the moderator about this.
