Winter Soldier's Soulmate Ch. 10

"Ummm actually we were wondering if you two wanted to come to avengers tower? You know for safety." Clint spoke up.

"Why would we do that?" Lucy asked confused.

"Well, Steve has been looking for sergeant Barnes for quite some time..." Natasha said.

"You keep saying that name. That's my soulmate's name. I have no idea where the hell he is. It's just Bucky and me so if that's all, we're gonna go." Lucy said back almost wanting to stomp her foot. These people obviously weren't getting it.

"Wait, you don't know..?" Clint said, looking shocked.

"Know what?!" Lucy demanded.

"That's James Barnes, behind you," Tony said.

Lucy was about to respond, but then her mind just went blank. She looked back at Bucky then at the Avengers.

".......what?" Lucy said then went on. "Wait no no no no you got something wrong, that's not James Bucanan Barnes. I would know if that was my soulmate. That's Bucky." Lucy started shaking her head and waving her hands in front of her face.

She turned and looked at Bucky, his arms had fallen to his sides and he was just staring at her, in just as much shock as she was.

"It's not true is it?" Lucy demanded beseechingly.

"I....I don't," Bucky sputtered as he backed away from her.

"Bucky?!" Lucy cried out.

But he was gone. He was in the car and taking off back down the road, leaving her behind. Lucy couldn't help but collapse onto her knees, unable to keep her legs under herself.
