A curious bit of nomenclature, a "tree changer". What do they hope to change? Over here we have "tree huggers" and they mostly want to save every tree to let it die of old age and rot in place. Usually I can kind of figure out the Aussie idioms, but this one leaves me confused.

Oh yes, loved the story.

Tree Changers

For Anonymous' benefit..

For many years, in Australia, people started moving from the big cities to seaside towns, often leaving their high-pressure jobs behind and taking up a more relaxed coastal lifestyle. These people were called "sea-changers". Nowadays, the coastal towns are full of sea-changers, so now the people are moving inland, to take up a more rustic/rural lifestyle, and are therefore called "tree-changers".

To Cromagnon man..

Another bewdy, mate!

I'm a pretty normal average male, chronologically well over 18 but psychologically I'm not so sure. I have been writing as a hobby for many years and now that I have time on my hands I am looking to become more professional at it. I enjoy reading, morning walks along the river...
