I am a professional editor who has just completed a certificate in copyediting from a state university in the US. This is a second career. My bachelors degree is in another field, though I have taken many elective courses in creative writing, and I have edited for friends for two decades. As I get ready to hang out my editing shingle in 2020, I have taken on a few projects here as a volunteer editor. My intention is to keep my skills sharp and perhaps assist a few writers in the process.

My references books are the most recent editions of the Chicago Manual of Style, Garner's Modern English Usage, and Merriam Webster. If you contact me before fall 2020, I will probably get back to you quickly. If you are reading this in 2021 or beyond, I may have moved on to paying clients, so I may not check this account often.

I like to think I'm a very nice person, and gentle (but professional) in my critiques. I am happily married and have no interest in "chatting" with other users, beyond discussing stories and edits. I am open to various subjects, but I would rather not work on stories that involve violence, water sports, scat, or anything that violates or attempts to circumvent the guidelines set by the site. If you send me a manuscript and I feel that I cannot work on it, or continue to work on it, I will politely let you know. Thanks!
