Rich Cratylus (1951-2015) was a smalltime academic from the Midwest. By the late Eighties, he and his wife had settled into a comfortable polyamorous relationship with another couple in their small town, while remaining open to very occasional meetups with old friends. By chance, they also befriended a small group of Evangelical swingers in eastern Kansas, a very long day's drive from their home, situated well west of Minneapolis. The "Couples Off the Interstate (KOI)" vignettes have been collected by Riickery Thorjhandar from the surviving files of Rich's correspondence with this group between 1985 and 1991. "KOI" is a loose collection of "memoirs" (and one "fiction") drawn from Rich and Becca's two decades of lazy dawdling off the Interstates of their Heartland home.
