In Native American cultures the wolf is an honored guide and teacher.
Jungian psychologists describe the wolf as a mediator between the ego and the unconscious, between death and transformation.
Wolves represent the efficient hunter (masculine) and the protective parent (feminine) and as crossover animals representing both the light and the dark.
Few people are eager to confront and make peace with the wild wolf lurking inside of us. Until we accept and acknowledge the dark aspects of the wolf, we are not free to enjoy the light aspects: the courage, intelligence, and joy of living the wolf also embodies.
This is the wolf's challenge to us: to embrace it all.
