to motionlessness
held fearful between the twin
jaws of middle aged angst
and uncertain future clamping down on him
there is safety
in stillness, a peace
painful yet predictable
the knowing of nothingness
this vice
a pleasant prison impenetrable
which he dares not escape
slowly, life bleeds out
as pressure builds
squeezes all hope
beads of sweat dripping
off his brow onto the floor
worry expurgated at such cost
what price refuge
when joy’s possibility is lost
As one could expect in a poem of this length! Words escape me...
dang I have a hard enough time writing about a lady in the country and you wrap up 'stillness' like no body I ever saw!
stillness, what a topic...deep~ very moving for a nonmoving subject matter~ <grin>
slowly, life bleeds out
as pressure builds
squeezes all hope
beads of sweat dripping~

the knowing of nothingness- great lines. Although, they all were good. Definitely great title for this piece. You drew the reader in wonderfully- greatly detailed and understood. Thanks for sharing.
