And can I find Love?
The night has conquered me;
the road is far too long,
cutting through miles of time, breaking youth, breaking hearts and breaking spirit,
crushing hopes, killing dreams,
veiling truth with newer darkness.
For the sun died and we fell from the Heaven we made.
I escaped and you with me,
leaving the painful world behind,
disregarding time, forgetting who we were before, existing only for Love.
We were in Eden too long;
its greenness became our grave.
Entangled like vines in one another's arms, trying to catch the sun,
we thought we'd see it burn forever.
We are no longer in Eden,
the memory of it will soon fade.
We are wearing clothes now,
and donning their pain.
You will go on to bigger and better things,
To Other Fields, to the reward at the end;
You have lived your life,
you have labored, you are worthy.
Another One will take you from me,
and you will think of me no more.
I wore the costume of my mind,
and its enchantment was Love.
I was too beautiful; I was too vain,
loving only the enchantment,
finding happiness in its aura,
showering us in its falseness,
never thinking of you,
of the pain that awaited you.
I was a Goddess briefly.
My power was Imagination, Delusion;
yours was the Greater Power,
You saw through me,
disrobed me of my Light and made me mortal.
Divinity has abandoned me and so shall you, learning I was Darkness.
And now the Dark has come to take me home again, far from your own Light,
millions of years away from you in space,
too far too remember,
too late to cry, to sad to fathom,
to hard to speak of it to anyone.
No one must ever know of that Misery Romance.
For all the Gods were like this,
And all the Humans discovered their deception.
They danced the Waltz of Time to their own beat
they created, they destroyed,
they were Lost among the Lost.
Another sun has set in Eden,
another Failed Romance.
Shall I ever find Love, lost in the Somewhere,
Can I ever find you again?
Will you love me, as I love you,
now that Death has come?
We have traveled too far and too much;
tears have carved a path.
We know all there is to know about the world,
and we know nothing.
Come back with me in Eden to let me know,
that we may still cling to Life together.
This is a very moving, tragic and romantic poem unlike any I've ever read. It's obvious you've had your heart broken and you write with so much tenderness and spirit. It's good to find this quality of poetry even on Literotica.
