Great story!! I couldn't help wondering though, since police also seemed unaware of the witness protection situation, wouldn't it be ironic if someone LOOKING for Vera found her and was responsible for those who wanted Richard getting to him with a supposed home invasion. A dishonest PI or even law officer could have been the culprit. Not delivering the information to David initially could even have been by intent of a dishonest staff member hoping for help in location Richard. Just some other interesting possibilities that popped to mind.

I also ended up liking most of the characters . . . even Richard, a little, though he couldn't have loved Vera that much if he was willing to put her life at risk.

I would have used the Gestapo...oh, sorry. ATF "agents", but the premise still works. I am one of the "foster losses", by the way. Totally get the concept.

A few misspellings and missing modifiers. The story, however, is first rate and I served with a Marine that could have been the Gunny and Mrs. H was a lawyer instead of a guidance counselor. That's another story.

I would give this 10 *, except for putting the Marshal's Service on the spot. I know why it was done, but it strains belief that of all federal agencies, they would screw the pooch as badly as this, and the Marshal's are really the only federal cops that are constitutionally legitimate, IMO. I agree, use the clowns in the ATF or the Feebs. LOL

“I was overwhelmed at the evidence of her concern for my well-being“

This is the first clue that he is certifiably insane. She could not have done that to him if she cared about him at all. It is probably true that she cares about kids and understands that some kids in a family can be more equal than others. It was all about getting to accept the role of cuck and raising her lover’s kid. She didn’t care enough to ask about him for five years. She didn’t ask how he had taken the news or what his current status was.

It was a good story overall, although like other commentators, it strains credulity that WITSEC would not have been hit upon as police searched for Vera. It also strain s credulity that Vera would have used simple social media to see how he was doing. Finally a bit too convenient with Carol.

I gave 5 stars but I wonder how much money do Americans need to live an amazing life? He was given five million dollars. It's mentioned as if that should keep him for a few years. They had to sell their two houses to fund the purchase of the new house? Really? However, all that aside this was a really good story but Vera was a bitch for what she did to him.

Love the LW stories where the wife ends up dying after betraying her husband. She leaves a cowardly letter and makes it impossible for the husband to reach full closure. Reminds me of NoTalentHack’s “No Place to Go.” In that story the wife was just a selfish cheating bitch. In “Thrice Rescued,” at least Vera has an excuse for her despicable behavior.

A good story but would be better if he sued the federal marshalls of the kidnapping of unborn then hide the birth child away from him until his hidden slut exwife died and they dumped the bastard child of hers on him . He would have to shop for a federal judge to start the process and take up to the Supreme Court Even if in witness protection he had a right to his child. Since they in effect stole his he demanded all officials tried for kidnapping and mental cruelty especially dumping the bastard child of his undivorced wife on him All were convicted and sent to federal prison for 20 years He demanded their pensions be revoked He was given a additional million doallars to care for the bastard child Also any other parent who suffered this could in a class action go after the bastards who stole their childs Over 200 marshalls went to prison even 10 judges. This of course sent fear up and down the gpvenment as they could no longer steal kids from 1 parent to give to the other in witness protection Some justice was served

Given the colossal fuck up by the u s martial service , which is a key promise of the story , it is entirely possible that the kids birth certificates are falsified as is the d n a report and that the kids are not his

A very interesting, well written story. It described the damage done to children by lack of loving parenting very well.

When I was a therapist I once had a client whose parents had died during WW2 when he was 4. He was separated from his two older sisters as they went to different single sex orphanages.

He wanted to see a therapist as he was 50 and had met a woman and wanted a relationship for the first time in his life, but just had no idea how to go about it. It was very sad.

AnonymousAnonymousabout 2 months ago

The story is crap ohh boo hoo I was in the foster system. I made it all the way until the marshals showed up and explained everything that lost all interest in the rest of the story and just had to skip to the end.

AnonymousAnonymousabout 2 months ago

It is fiction! And a good one at that. Five golden ones.

Just have to say an honest cops job in any capacity is not easy, and public servants in roles of state care institutions are normally only half funded, hard to get the job done with that sort of funding.

Not sure how the USA's democracy is meant to work but the people are in fact in control of the government. It is the failure of the people in making their representatives do their[the peoples] bidding under a majority direction that are ultimately responsible for the failure of a true democracy. AND there is not one so called Democratic country in the world who operates in a Democratic fashion. Still apparently it's the best of a whole lot of bad systems, beats places like China, Iran, North Korea to name a few.

PorterrhPorterrhabout 2 months ago

I just couldn’t comprehend or rationalise her reasons for leaving, which then made the entire story meaningless

PowersworderPowersworderabout 2 months ago

It was good, except for forgiving Vera at the end.

She cheated on him, abandoned him without a word of explanation, denied him access to his daughter, then guilt-tripped the poor sap into raising her affair bastard.

Vera was a selfish golddigging whore. She treated her loving husband like absolute dogshit.

AnonymousAnonymousabout 2 months ago

An interesting, and sadly too much realistic tale, about the children abusing theme. What is known and well documented, probably is just the little visible iceberg part of an horrible reality. One thing that doesn't sound true in this tale is the statement that the awful betrayal of the first wife of the MC, was caused by her experience in the Foster system: that is ridiculous, since the slut wife choose to abandon her husband for her own interests, in the worst devastant way for her husband. So she was certainly not a saint, and even though she repaid her husband with a lot of money, she was nothing else than a slut betrayer wife.

AnonymousAnonymousabout 2 months ago

I am a bit dumb on these trust things. So "HE" gets nothing but the kids get it all? SO if he lost work or could not get income the trust can be used for the kids but not him?

What if he said NO. I don't know my daughter and Samuel is not mine at all. They go to foster but nothing really changes financially for him?

If I could get the money I would do it but if not then I would be a hard ass and say no. Every day I look at the kids I am reminded of what a Bitch my wife was. Especially Samuel. I would see that bastard Richard.

AnonymousAnonymousabout 2 months ago

This tale looks like an half cheating-cuck femdom tale, with smart women, cheating slut wives and submissive sheep husbands. Good the part about the children abuse, but without that, what remains is just an extreme cheating-cuck tale.

AnonymousAnonymousabout 2 months ago

An original variant of the overdone femdom-fetish-cuck theme. That ruined this interesting tale.

I liked it but there is a giant plot hole. People in Witsec routinely meet their handlers. They aren't just shipped off and watched from a distance. Vera may not have loved Dave, but she did care about him. That alone, if not curiosity, would have caused hee to followed up and make sure the Marshalls completed their side of the bargain. It's still a lovely story.

AnonymousAnonymousabout 2 months ago

This is the rare story here that could have been expanded a little bit to add in additional context to improve the pace. Because you are dealing with so many hard hitting activities, you need to let your reader come back down for a bit before you go for that next emotional hit. The neat part is that you have the emotional tugs laid out and it is only the fluff that you need to add in, which is the opposite of most authors here who only have fluff.

AnonymousAnonymousabout 2 months ago

Swing and a miss. The good guy didn't win, just more that the bad guys lost.

AnonymousAnonymousabout 2 months ago

He was given essentially $105 million dollars between what Vera left and the full estate that came from the WitSec/Whistleblower. The idea that he needed to sell the two houses to fund the new house is a minor detail that is laughable.

It is otherwise a very lovely story and happy for the MC to live happily ever after.

I'm somewhat dismayed at the number of commentators who have done a great disservice to a fine author by dismissing Vera as a goldigging slut bitch (or words to that effect) and David as a dumb cuck. I thought that Laphroaig53 clearly established that Vera was so badly traumatized by her childhood experience in the foster care system that she was uncomfortable risking a vulnerable relationship and inexorably drawn to the (chimeric) promise of absolute physical and fiscal safety. Fewer readers might have been inclined to that faulty interpretation if the dollar amounts had been one or two orders of magnitude less. Nonetheless, a marvelously crafted story.

NegateGivityNegateGivityabout 2 months ago

I think the request to raise the children should have also come with a letter. Like she goes through the effort to make David a legal guardian only through legal briefs? Have a second letter that is more recent making the plea. Also she still thinks they are divorced and he has moved on. Like all of the sudden he has this responsibility thrust upon him that is totally out of the blue, being that the original legal paperwork was never delivered or processed. She should have included some kind of personal plea to keep her children together and not subject her son to the same broken system they experienced.

Not bad. But tne whole Vera story never made sense. Why did she bother to marry David? And having done so, why did she abandon him? While pregnant? And how the HELL did she and Richard get so rich? And why the hell would Richard ever allow her to craft a Trust like she did?

.

The romance with Carol was OK. But it lacked emotion. But still a happy ending.

I don't know if I can lay too much blame on Vera. As a product of such a malfunctioning foster system her rationale may have been to look out for herself. Never thinking about Davie as she made her way to financial security she made sure he was taken care of in the end.

I think you need to assess your priorities. I’ve read all that you’ve written here and it’s clear to me that you have talent (creativity and writing skills). Several authors (at least) sell their stories on Amazon/Kindle. Others have gone on to find a publisher and write for a wider audience. Of course, most just continue to contribute to Literotica. What do you want for your future? You are already one of the more talented authors here, IMO. I do hope that you keep contributing here, but I would be delighted to learn that you’d moved on.

I am giving this story five stars. It is a good four-star story. The extra star is for taking on the foster care system. My ex-wife was a worker at child protective services. They were under funded and over worked, I don't blame my ex, but the main job of CPS was to just keep the problem out of the public sight. That meant that unless a child was in danger of being abused to death, then they did not get much attention. Some of the foster parents were good caregivers, but she never met one that wasn't in it for the money.

The wimp stole another man's wife, and neither the wimp nor the money grubbing whore had the brains to own guns? And they are in witness protection? And they had no alarm and security system? Apparently no system of alert and self defense? What the fuck use is "witness protection" if some drug thugs can whack you at their leisure? Your setup premise was not well thought out.

\

As to the whore leaving him and the kids well off, remember she never intended for him to actually get the money. It was a payoff for raising the kids she never intended for him to know about. She didn't need the money dead, so she figured she could buy the dumb shit's parenting skills. Wonder how the kids are going to react when they learn where they came from, and how and why their "dad" isn't who was supposed to actually be their father. That their mother was essentially a high paid whore who betrayed the man she married, essentially for money. What a heritage and ancestry.

\

If the stupid cuck has any balls and brains he will completely hide Vera's life and memory from the kids while he is still alive, and leave the kids a similar after death letter explaining that their mother was a cheating whore, but at least had more integrity and decency in death than she did in life. And encourage them to never marry if they can't be a better person and spouse than their mother was. Without the money Vera is just another cheap cheating slut choosing to trade up. Let's hope she had a lingering painful death.

AnonymousAnonymousabout 2 months ago

Why would you write a story about such a patsy? His slut wife dumps him without a word and then saddles him with her lover's kids? Ridiculous!

AnonymousAnonymousabout 2 months ago

This was a refreshingly different, meaningful, and inspiring story highlighting mostly the best in people, even with their imperfections. My wife and I “rescued” (adopted) two very damaged children from foster care to go with our four birth children. Although it has been hard at times, it was the right thing to do for us, and I think, for them. Thank you for the illuminating and uplifting story, a rescue from the usual formulaic, angry bilge the LW genre oozes.

AnonymousAnonymousabout 2 months ago

Now see...

...this is why abortion is such a boon to society. Not only would Rick and Vera have been spared a dreadful foster experience, but their parents would likely have lived much more fulfilling lives. See how easy that is.

AnonymousAnonymousabout 2 months ago

@A_Bierce. It might come as a shock to you, but what you are accurately describing, IS a gold digging whore. There excuses and justifications for even the most horrid crimes. But they are irrelevant, in the end you do what you CHOOSE to do and you are who you CHOOSE to be. It's that simple, painting everything grey only serves guilty people.

AnonymousAnonymousabout 2 months ago

She STOLE his daughter from him. If she hadn't been killed like the waste of oxygen she was, he would have never met his child. Abandoning HER son to the foster system she hated is not cruelty but justice. Raising his actual child with his own effort and money instead of her whoring funds. But since you can't be a LW protag without being a closet cuck with a martyr complex, we can't have that. Better write a sequel where his new sweetheart also saddles him with more brats who don't share his dna. He got a taste for it now. Apparently the only characters who bothered with delivering some karmic justice, were the...gangbangers

But by reading a great many of the comments, I realize that there a quite a few hateful dickheads in this world that would never make it to the next world...good riddance. My brother was a Marine who lost his life in service to his country. He was a compassionate and loving person who died at nineteen years of age. Everyone loved him because of his wonderful loving nature. He used to defend his weaker friends from bullies and those that wanted to harm them...he kicked many of the assholes who thought of themselves as badasses.
