"She sees come up a second time earth out of
ocean once again green.  The waterfalls flow,
an eagle flies over, in the hills hunting fish."
From the "Prophecy of the Völva"

outside my bedroom window
the night is absolute blackness -
the moon and stars all concealed.
no visible points to orient positions
but sensing movement through space.
a slight luminescence gleams on the sill
like a weak glow on the far side of the hill,
like prairie fire viewed from a great distance,
like an obscured immanence that's hurrying on,
like a locomotive speeding through a misty dawn.

the wheel of history crosses over an epochal line
and blood rearranges itself in a new paradigm.
an unforeseen consciousness has awakened
and the dream door of space-time is ajar.
the swirling surface of the bubble thins
and old suns solidify to singularities.
ancient tongues again are chanted,
and long-shut eyes once more see
an ever-mounting flame arising
outside my bedroom window.
