ASPHALT BLUES

The rain falls,
the asphalt calls,
but I am deaf,
shinning brand new,
this is my blue
deep inner self.

I like been deaf,
my little elf,
I like been blue,
so many calls,
my night just rolls
from me to you.

chorus
Reciprocal agreements
for countless winter nights,
augmenting by increments
just like these Christmas lights.

Diminishing to darkness,
to silent rain's mist,
the difference and the likeness
between us don't exist.

The rain falls,
all kindred souls
under this arch,
this colonnade,
a jam parade
of jolly tarts.

My soul so smart,
a true queen tart,
but slightly wet,
she feels so glad
of been a bard,
with brains to let.

chorus
Reciprocal confusion
we're giving to each other,
remains an illusion,
a lack of substance, rather.

Diminishing to darkness
each item in our list,
with honesty and frankness
becomes a selfish beast.

The rain falls,
the asphalt calls,
the sound is clear:
Be what you are,
don't go too far,
but don't come near.

Ace!

I really like your poetry. It is immediate, crisp, and accessible.
