she kissed me
lips red as
cinnamon hots
cheeks flushed
like the rose tint
of a marzipan
apple –

her tongue flavoured
by melted gumdrops,
breath as sweet
against my cheek
as the scent of
cotton candy –

hand against my cheek
fingertips smooth as
the curved shells
of bonbons, palm warm
and yielding, like finely-
pulled taffy –

and, when I knelt
between her honey-
roasted thighs to
find how many licks
it took to the center –

for days after,
I was still
tasting sugar.
