I do really like this. If it was my poem, I'd probably change the 1st line to simply "dying" or "succumbing," but it's not my poem. That's just my opinion. Other poets may prefer it the way it's written. Either way, it was intriguing and I enjoyed seeing this perspective. Thanks for the read!
