in her coffee cup
she sees her reflection
distorted
scraggly
black on black

she asks too much
yet very little

she needs too much
and crushes him

her own life
something she needs
an escape from
to forget
how she's treated
as though she doesn't matter
disrespected
judged
smothered

so she sits
looking in her coffee
the colors of the room
and her face
meld as she swirls

a tear
a smile
things that make her human
she needs no more
than herself
though she'd like
a little more
than she is given

I rather like this

Your economy of words is refreshing.
