LEMONIA (F)LEAP EDELTRAUD => THROUGH NEED AND DECENCY
AVRA PALM
WEDNESDAY EVENING
6/8/2014

INTERPRETATION

I wish you were just music
without words,
and then I'd know exactly
what to do with you.
I wish you were a melody,
or just a chain of chords,
something so abstract
that defies words,
and then I'd know exactly
how to behave towards
you,
you,
always you.

I'd know exactly your routine,
I'd soon turn you
into a long sonata
for solo instrument.

To apply to you
the first rule of practice:
Practise, not just till you get it right,
but practise,
till you can never get it wrong again.

Then in an all private,
all exclusive,
all perfect performance,
(only us two),
the whole idea
behind your existence
would materialize.

The concert would soon be over,
and my options would still be open
for repeating the performance
whenever I want,
or just forget it all together.

There...
you have been interpreted...
you may applaud now.

The end made me laugh.

If you play a woman as lovingly and with as much rapt attention as you play an instrument how could she but sing.

Nice piece.
