Judgement

The boatman bore us across the Styx
Our mouths sewn shut, our eyes sewn wide
From deaths empty eyes we could not hide

We stood before Minos, the judge of the dead
He laid open my mind, and searched my head
I saw before me three fields of hell
And I turned my eyes to asphodel

the mouth less ghouls with empty eyes
They make no noise, they sound no cries
Yet all I do is wait and stare
My mind laid open, my thoughts laid bare
Minos still judges, and I pray
That in Elysium I may stay

Elysium beckons with shining light
The gold trees glisten and catch my sight
The still waters offer a cool embrace
And offer release from life's hot race
The offer of peace and love, out pour
From light eternal, life evermore

There is one other plane of hell
Tartarus, where Hades, king, does dwell
The king of death, his throne is there
Your flesh, and sinew and bones will he tear
For the crimes of your life he will repay
In full and more is Hades way
Hope oh hope that to that place
You would ne'er be sent through your disgrace

Hey !

I'll be honest and say that though poetry is not my thing, I liked this poem better than I thought I would ....

The theme is a bit bleak, but then the poem IS about death and judgment, so ...

nice attempt at classical poem

mouth less = mouthless (is one word)

Hades way= Hades' way (possessive)

also assorted lack of punctuation detracts
