Glancing at the letters,
Tied with a red ribbon,
I wondered how many lives,
They ad affected or created,
As my hands reached out,
So many thoughts run through my mind,
A breeze flows through the window,
Blowing out the single candle lighting the room,
My hand comes into contact with the brittle parchment,
Immediately I recoil, as emotions transferred themselves,
From the letters to my hand,
Shock rolled through my body,
I felt torn with all the emotions,
Shock, pity, happiness, pride and joy,
And so many other indescribable emotions,
As I looked at the names on the letters,
I wondered who these people had been.

Nicely done ~ that last line is extemely powerful in summing up all that has happened through all the years...

Poignant!

Old letters ~ discarded memories brought to life. Beautifully evocative.
