You taste like the sea
I said once
Long ago
And you asked me what I meant

I never told you

Like all your other questions
Which I never answered
This too was folded neatly away

So that in time
It could come and haunt me

And so that
I could pound my chest
And scream to the night

And ask you to return
From the place where you are

Not because I want to hold you
Or think of children’s names

But only because

I had your countless questions
And now I have the answers
