Spirits call
Beckoning
Surround me
Flame and blood, passion and pain
The people sing to me
Dancing in the pale light
Shining from open graves
Ephemeral messengers
Blood and history
Gone before I knew it
Blood of my flesh
Past unknown
Unlived
Ever felt
Ever lost
Dancing in the pale light
Drums echo in cold silence
Rattling shells
Pull me back
To a past I never lived
People of my sinew
Dancers of my heart
Fires flickering
Motes in the moonlight
The people
The life long gone
Sing to this pale one
Take your part in this dance
Add your voice to this song
Claim your place
Around the fire of your ancestors
Ever felt
Ever lost
I feel the pull
Of drum and fire
Dancers spinning 'round me
Calling the pale one home
Their song washes over me
Carries me back
Home long gone, people of my sinew
Drums rolling me away
Forgetting bleached existence
Life among the pale
Until dawn's categorical light
Quenches the fires
Leaving me again
Pale
But lost no more
Fires in my heart
Drums in my vein
Dances in my step
Carrying the people within my sinew
And my soul
