Sunlight Glimpsed

The sunlight went its' Winter way,
rare glimpses through the clouds.
A prelude to the drab grey sky,
a dreary cloak on land it shrouds.

He stares out through the window,
mournful sighing parts his lips.
Wistful thoughts of love he's never found,
as keyboard meets his finger tips.

The flickered screen lights the face,
of a man who's lost all hope.
Tumbling from a world once golden,
he reaches, searching for his cyber rope.

He types, expecting nothing,
as dull day sinks into night.
And as if his prayers are answered,
a message sent, his ray of light?

A promise of another chance?
"Forlorn," a whispered moan.
And sighs again, "Is this the one?"
"What hope have I?" his hopeless groan.

But something makes him answer,
take the fraying rope he's found.
And he feels a warming welcome,
as keyboard taps its lonely sound.

Quiet smiles, and teasing play,
as a woman reaches too.
Searching, hoping for her only chance,
to grasp at life, and love that's true.

A bond, a tie, grows stronger,
as night grows still and long.
A meeting, soon. No wasting time,
for hope and need to sing their song.

New day dawns with cloudy skies,
though bleak moods are soon dismissed.
For this time they are filled with hope,
as grey clouds part, the sunlight glimpsed.
