Eight hundred miles; that seems so very far
I'd walk if I had to, I would watch for our star.

I crave to be with you; just you and me.
What will we say, and how will it be?

Our love is untested and we weary of the wait.
As we measure the time and we watch for the date.

True love is not rushed; it grows in due time.
Ours is still stretching, not yet in its prime.

I miss you, I want you, I really do care.
The butterflies may rest, yet still they are there!

They will flutter anew for me and for you.
When we're together again, and the wait is through.

I wonder sometimes if you really happened to me - ?
Yet I can feel my heart, beating wildly with glee.

I will not worry, and I will not sigh.
Though when I see you again, I'm sure I will cry.

Imagine, I say, when I look deep into your eyes.
What it would be like if we come to realize...

That we cannot run, that we cannot hide.
That we cannot escape from love's incoming tide.

I will hold you and kiss you and whisper in your ear.
How you transformed my life when I met you this year.

I'm willing to hurt, and I'm willing to ache
If it's my heart, that you decide to take.

It scares me, it does, this love that I feel.
It's different and crazy and so very real!

We hope and we trust that life will be kind.
Yet, there's so much hurt we will leave behind...

If we start afresh, a life so grand.
Our life to share, hand in hand.

We'll be honest and hopeful, and realistic too.
That it may be a challenge, to see it all through.

There is as they say, a bottom line.
A constant, core truth, and this is mine:

You must ALWAYS be happy and always be free,
Whether or not you end up with me.
