THE COST OF MY LOVE

It will endure forever
whether a flaming inferno in your presence
or an in-extinguishable ember in my soul.

The memories will never disappear
   the desire never dim.

Pain so great, so great that life would be impossible
but for your smile that day so, so long ago.  And...

HOPE

I will pay the cost, my immense burden,
I will gladly shoulder my burden daily.
Because, once, sometime ago you said you loved me
And that, to me, is forever and priceless.
