Virtual Girl (...as I watch the Sun go down)

Anticipation grows as I make my long way home
In fact, sometimes I even get a chill
Butterflies in my stomach so I miss another meal
Sometimes I even feel a little ill.

I switch on, boot up, connect and wait
For a message or a sign
From you, my beautiful virtual girl
I need you more this time

So, I wonder where you live
I wonder where you go
I wonder what you like to do
I wonder who you know
I wonder how you spend your time
When you're not online
I wonder if I'll ever know
If this is just a waste of mine?

....'Cos I'm staring at a blank screen

And the cursor mocks me
As I watch the Sun go down.

The thin line won't stop flashing, waiting for the words
But the page is empty like my thundering heart
It's been four long days since last we spoke
And it's tearing me apart

Perhaps you've just been busy
Or maybe working late?
Maybe gone on holiday
Maybe on a date?
Perhaps you have been taken ill
I hope you're not in too much pain
That has to be the reason why
You've missed our chat again...

..So I'm staring at a blank screen

And still the cursor mocks me
As the Sun goes down.

Now, I wonder what you're doing
I wonder who you've seen
I wonder what you're thinking of
I wonder where you've been
I wonder if you think of me
I wonder if you care
I wonder if you realise
That I am always there....

...waiting with a blank screen.

And the cursor mocks me
As I watch the Sun go down.
