Wax Nostalgia

On gloomy days,
That I simply cannot stand,
Where I'm lost in an empty,
Unforgiving land,
I find a small candle,
Weathered through time.
....

I handle it with care,
Thankful that I still have it,
For the joy that it brings,
Is what more than many covet.
....

I light the wick,
With a spark of nostalgia,
It smells like bliss,
Comfort, a warm blanket
Of fluttering joy.
....

The snug aroma,
Tugging at my consciousness,
Sweeping me off my feet,
And into another world,
Remembering the past,
And what it used to be.
....

And I Feel.
....

A pinprick of the present,
Drifting in a sea of softheartedness,
Drags me to the cold surface,
Like a fish out of water.
....

I grasp these feeling,
Like an innocent child to his mother,
Never wanting to let go,
Never wanting to move on.
....

I blow out the candle,
Putting it back once again,
Knowing that the candle will never be truly gone,
For we all have a candle,
Within us all,
That sparks our memories,
And breaks down our walls.
