having an issue where B1020ModLoader won't properly unload mods that are part of my normal set. i run the normal remove command, get the expected confirmation, request a list of installed mods and don't see (hear) it in the list... but behavior doesn't change in response. can still confirm everything is working the same before and after unload, even after a reset. is this a known issue...
TrickyObsidian
Nope, not a known issue afaik. Are you sure it's not just normal unmodded behavior? What is your loadout?
SnackNinja2k2
very sure... i'm just running a subset of Jer's Control Modpack, minus [exhib_randomizer] and [ahegaoface]. and yes, the latest manifest of JCM. i do use the dev prerelease of B1020ModLoader but it's fully patched
SnackNinja2k2
@TrickyObsidian ^
SnackNinja2k2
weirdest part is, I'm running almost identical versions of this loadout on five different instances, but only this one has the issue
TrickyObsidian
... Again... SURE it's not normal unmodded behavior? How well do you know your instance? @SnackNinja2k2
SnackNinja2k2
@TrickyObsidian well, the mod I was trying to unload is [kinsey_slider], if that clarifies things
weed_shark_
five instances? are these all local?
SnackNinja2k2
instance displaying the problem is local. a neighbor. two others share an apt in the same building, other two are remote @weed_shark_
TrickyObsidian
@SnackNinja2k2 Ok, hazarding another guess, this could happen if the install process was interrupted maybe? I know people have experimented with minimal/partial installs and they can be more functional than expected at first.
SnackNinja2k2
same install process on all three local instances, no interruptions. i did a normal spearphish->BLIT to halt operation (just blind airdropped the glyph to them) and then sideloaded B1ML in person with no apparent issues, pulled down JCM, reset, all good. again, no problems loading mods, just unloading
weed_shark_
not white hat installs then.
SnackNinja2k2
@weed_shark_ :P no, like most instances if we're going to be honest...
SnackNinja2k2
ok over the weekend took some time for a closer look and things have definitely deteriorated. i was going to just uninstall everything except [cache_clear] and start over but it's not JUST that unloading doesn't remove stuff, it seems to also max out config for every mod i unload. like i tried unloading [climax_ceiling] and she went from limited to zero. tried unloading [libidial] and now the poor thing can't stop humping the furniture. not exaggerating, i can literally hear her on the other side of the wall. this has seriously never happened to anyone else?
DT
I don't know if you're going to get more than "works on my instance" in response here, @SnackNinja2k2. B1ML is battle-tested and has a lot of contingency handling but wetware is an inherently unstable medium. If you can get [cache_clear] to complete a full run with [-deep] flagged, I'd honestly try the B552 nuke method to abandon this install and wipe evidence if you can access it. (Not legal advice, not a medical professional, "access a 'lisk at your own risk," etc.)
SnackNinja2k2
@DT yes I have seen you post versions of this comment on 10 other issues, thanxxxx
SnackNinja2k2
@DT not that i don't appreciate it but most of those others were resolved and led to patches so i don't want to abandon this yet
bobbo
Plus you're attached to this instance, huh @SnackNinja2k2?
SnackNinja2k2
well yeah

going to try just listing all the mods by name to chum the waters for search indexing. the full list of mods that all my instances share:
[cache_clear]
[lock]
[post_suggest]
[jers_accelerator]
[tweaqlzr]
[call_me_x]
[libidial]
[eager]
[climax_ceiling]
[kinksuite] (i know this is a pandora's box but it's stock, i haven't really put anything in here)
[kinsey_slider]
[autonomic_safety]
my remotes both have [exhib_sync] with the same keys and [confabulator] since i can't keep a close eye on them. but again, they're not the problem. my three locals have [sensory_invert] set to low for sm stuff and both the problem instance + one of the other locals have [subspace] standard config as well. other local has that config reversed so I can switch off with them.
but again... nothing that should be conflicting with the base pack, just a few things disabled. and the full load of the problem instance matches exactly with the other (sub) local who shows no issues. except that i haven't tried to unload any of her mods.
Deep.Green
Maintainer here. Obviously issues with mod conflicts are beyond the scope of fixes for the loader... but tbh @SnackNinja2k2 I can't see anything that strikes me as odd here. I believe everything in Jer's Control Modpack has to run integration tests against everything else to qualify for inclusion. Mmmaybe just try a full reinstall from scratch without disabling any of the standard mods and then see if you can replicate by unloading one at a time?
SnackNinja2k2
@Deep.Green thanks, yeah, guess i have to. still don't know why config would be changing on unload! that was why i brought it up here originally @Deep.Green. anyway. hope her couch arms can last until i sort this out, lol
SnackNinja2k2
ok no fix yet but coming back to this bc i just had a very paranoid thought
SnackNinja2k2
i might not be the only admin doing B1ML installs in this building
SnackNinja2k2
hey anyone subbed to this thread, is there a simple way to tell when or whether a B1ML install was last initiated?
TrickyObsidian
On your instance?
SnackNinja2k2
yes
SnackNinja2k2
on any arbitrary instance really. on anyone
SnackNinja2k2
there has to be a util for this right
SnackNinja2k2
@TrickyObsidian
TrickyObsidian
Sorry, didn't see this. Yes, you can sift out the info by running [wwck] at reset time and piping the full log contents into search somehow, but it's not going to be simple to export. Standard voice output is not suited for this, but B-1020 is really a one-way exploit.
SnackNinja2k2
fuck.
TrickyObsidian
...?
SnackNinja2k2
i obviously can't run [wwck] on MYSELF
bobbo
Basics, basics. B-1020 is demisymmetrical which means it does not resolve to 98%+ of people gendered as men. ;) Which is the original motivation for this repository tbh... relax @SnackNinja2k2
SnackNinja2k2
never said i was man
bobbo
Oh
bobbo
No wonder you needed [kinsey_slider]... ha
SnackNinja2k2
this is fucked
SnackNinja2k2
confirmed there's now a [disable_saccade] mod installed on the problem (neighbor) instance
SnackNinja2k2
i did not put it there
SnackNinja2k2
it's not on any of my other instances, it's not part of Jer's
SnackNinja2k2
seriously seriously what can i run to verify whether i have B1ML installed on me locally
SnackNinja2k2
hey come on help me out please @TrickyObsidian @weed_shark_ @Deep.Green @bobbo ^
SnackNinja2k2

Very fun. I loved the offhand reference to the BLIT/basilisk stories. Thanks!
I’ve been waiting years <3 that other guy is in the same page
