THANKS

Loved it

I like that it was a 'real' story, something that you could see happening anywhere. All to often the elderly are not seen as needing everything 'including sex' that everyone else does. Well told, well written, I would love to read another chapter.

Dammit beuy

Will ye stop makin me greet. One year as it came to Christmas I was stuck, my mum in law was one of those people who never seemed to enjoy any gift. Money was tight and as Christmas approached I grew desperate to think of something that wouldnt end up in the drawer. At last I made six small tokens jings i cant even remember what they all were now, simple things like "I claim one lunch" I do remember one was One night at your place or ours doing whatever you want even if it includes watchin Corrie, each token had a place for her to sign. She claimed some of them but little were we to know that on the 21st December the next year she would leave us. When we were clearing out her things there on the top of the drawers was the book of tokens the tears flowed when i looked at it for one was signed. "I claim Christmas dinner and all the trimmings and an afternoon of happy memories"

Beautiful Story

In a way I think that everyone who is over 60 ought to read

this story, once a year. We are winding down and I know how much it means to hug, to kiss and cuddle. Wonderful piece

of work.

The Best

This has got to be one of your best. Its wonderful that this site can be used for great short stories that don't need sex to capture the reader's interest.

sherlock40sherlock40about 16 years ago
Thank you

Usually the stories on this site are about as entertaining as an abcessed tooth and apparently written by selfish children one-handed as they pleasure themselves with the other hand. But, every once in a great while, a story comes along that makes wading through the crap and sludge worth it. Thank you for allowing us to enter your world. It was wonderful and a refreshing change. The subject matter was important and the story was very well-done.

Much Beyond Impressively Heartwarming

You must own stock in Kleenex - or should have.<P>

This was exceptional! It drove emotions of all kinds in a wondrous style and flow.<P>

Without a doubt your best and likely the best here so far this year in generating heartfelt feelings.<P>

Thanks Author - your credible work is appreciated.<P>

With Very High Regard

I think this is a love story; should be in Romance

If the people in this story don't love each other, I don't know what love is. What a story! My wife is 9 years younger than I am and I hope there is somebody there for her when my time comes (although I don't think my sons will be like Ron's son).

AnonymousAnonymousabout 16 years ago
Thank you.

I hope to have friends this good when I get older. I am watching my dad (who is in his mid 70's) and am both gladdened and sad that I am here to help. He and my uncle and I live together.

Thanks again.

Loving Friends

It's good to have loving friends... ones that can be called, for no other reason than to say "I need to be held and I need to cry"... or "Have you had dinner yet? Well come on over, it's ready." Loving friends don't need to feel embarrassed with each other for needing or wanting a night of tenderness (just holding)... it doesn't have to mean they become <i>"fuck buddies"</i>. (Lord how I detest that term!)<br>

</br>

I enjoyed your story, as I always enjoy what You write; and I'd give anything to have a loving friend like Nick; one who doesn't judge or think you're barmy if you ask him to kiss you or just hold you. Well done Scorpio; as always.

Well worth the read!!!!

Scorpio I have been out of touch for several months and, due to various constraints, I can no longer comment as prodigiously as I did in the past. Having said this I must say that you again grant us yet another glimpse of you brilliance! You have treated your loyal readers to yet another fantastic tale of love and hope. Your characters are so live and real and the plot, although sombre in parts, is truly heart warming. A true fan, Pete.

Just a great story of compassion. I should be so lucky to have friends like that, since I am 77 it put a tear in my eye thinking about the next step.

Brilliant - just brilliant

I hope I can find love and companionship like that when I get older - with all that caring and tenderness four people have become so much closer and he is one lucky guy to have three women to be with. Like they say ' Don't mind the grey clouds, the lightening conductor still works'!!!

Can't stop the tears

This story was absolutly heart warming. Probably because my wife and I are in our 68th year. I just hope that my wife has friends like these if I go first. Thank you very much.

once again

Master

once again you have shown this grasshopper more underestanding truly and unconditionally love, forgive,

just be there

Hugs are important when face to face we watch esch others back and our hearts beat together

side by side each providing a point of security for the road a head eyes toward the front

back to front protecting another's back at the risk ou your own with your eyes focused on the same goal

yes hugs are important

they can truly only be shared

One of the best

I am a new reader to your stories and if this is typical then I am sold. Told in a very sensitive manner that many folk must relate to. I am an octogenarian still, after nearly six decades with the lady I married so long ago.

My hope is that which ever of us goes first we have the knowledge that there will be a 'Nick" to comfort the survivor.

Well done!!

That is a story to proud of -

Not saying I don't like the more erotic ones you write but it just never seems to be the sex that keeps me reading -

I hate to admit it but I have been known to scan through the sex scenes to get to the good parts ROFL -

Thanks for the heart felt writing -

in my eyes I give thanks that Lit does not delete "older" stories. Those of us who are "older" ourselves are thankful you have not deleted us.

Thanks for the beautiful writing.

MOVED SO DEEPLY

Scorpio you have got right into the heart of this septuagenarian who coasts along in a retirement village.

You made me look at my neighbours and appreciate, their traumas a lot more.

I have been scared to become close as I am like your hero and nowadays am short on the sexual performance scorecard and accordingly reluctant to deeply involved.

Some things just keep getting better

I guess this is the third time I've read this story. Or maybe it's the fourth. You display great understanding of the human spirit. Being alone can be wonderful, up to a point. Having somebody else who will be there, feeling what you feel, letting you know that you still have a friend, is a wonderful thing. Humans are social animals, and we need to be reminded that we haven't been abandoned, just because we have lost someone close.

a great little story

we all need someones shoulder to cry on at times.....he and the others provided just that...very tender....very loving....sometimes nothing needs to be said you just want someone there.....a brilliant tale....loved it

I could use this understanding...

My name's John and I just lost my wife on 3/26/14... I sat here crying while I read this whole story...

Caring

It's caring about each other that is the key. I love what this story shows. I lost my daughter to a sickness and it shattered me. I still see her on the birthday we shared but the pain has gotten better. And , as shown in the story, just being held is enough. Thank you for this story.

Fabulous story

What a marvelous piece of writing! This is a great description of caring friends dealing as well as they can with loss and heartache. At age 70, I can relate really well to what the characters here are going through. This story is a superb offering.
