All Comments on 'Beat Francis at Arm Wrestling Pt. 01'

I think you captured the competitive edge quite well here in your protagonist, and I really enjoy stories that bring a setting to life with their characters. I have not played Fallout 2 (though hubby has), but that didn't matter one whit as I could still be well immersed in this story. Good job on that!

I haven't read any of your other work, so wasn't sure how "mean" this could get. I would have to say that it was far less mean, and less gritty, than I was expecting. This is a good thing. :) No need to be modeling anything after Frank Miller.

While I wondered how crushed she might be if she lost (and you made me doubt just enough whether she would to keep me reading), or if something unexpected would happen---I found, actually, no, she lost both times :P But they were in matches with pre-established rules that were followed by both parties. *That* was actually what was unexpected, and why this wasn't more gritty.

For someone who hates to lose, too much anger and a lack of grace can quickly escalate a deal like that, but Jenny seems more flexible. Meanwhile, Francis is both bored and amused most of the time, in that he genuinely doesn't get off on mutilating others as he could with that strength. This just seems how he likes to find his quickie-partners. It makes me wonder what kind of past he had to restrain himself like that.

While I watched Jenny not hate herself too much for losing (interesting for one so competitive), I also felt her excitement at the end with the idea of a rematch, now that she has more knowledge of what she's dealing with. It makes for a very promising start and a lot of potential. :)

Do show us what you intend to write for her!

Now that was a fun read.

I did not play fallout 2, but it is one of the most favourite games of my husband so I have allowed to read this history to him, and he has asked me to thank for this history and to tell that now he waits continuation :)

P.S. I too liked this history, but I have not understood many moments, while it not be explained to me:)

LOL! It's just that you got us all hot and bothered with the wonderful stories and then you left us hanging...waiting for that climax (no pun intended...or maybe?? lol).

Ok so I know about Fallout but have never played fallout 2 but this was really fun to read. I was worried I would get lost but I wasnt. I loved how Jenny has a huge competitive part of her personality. Hell it seems to dominate her. She really worships power whether its her's or someone else's and I enjoyed that...Well that and she doesn't give up. I love the interplay between her and Francis. This was really good, I'll read the rest of the chapters.
