She broke the ice and said. “John where have you been, I have been waiting nearly two hours for you.”

“I decided to go out to my mum’s house,” I replied lamely.

“Well come here now and close the door,” she replied and started waving a finger at me.

“I start my new job on the day you want to fly out to Holland,” I smiled. “It looks like I will just have to postpone the starting date by a couple of weeks.”
