Elaine moved to her, put her arms around her and drew her up. They stood with arms around each other and Elaine said, "You're welcome, Denny. We love you. We'll look after you until you're good and ready."
Then, a little more briskly, she added, "But now we've got to go to work. You need to go home and get changed, and I need to get ready too. Can you find your way out of the estate and back to your place?"
Denise smiled at her friend. She finished her coffee with a gulp, and set the mug down on the table. "Sure, Elaine. I'll see you at work in a short while." She grabbed her overnight bag, they exchanged a sweet but short kiss, and Denise left.
