Loved it!

This story had something I have seen in many other LW stories. The wife leaves to be with her lover, but the lover continues to go to his watering hole without his GF. Shouldn't he be home to show his new roommate how much he loves her? Speaking of home, the bull lived next door and he and the cheater obviously didn't live there. So, where is their home?

3 star effort @ beginning because of no orginallity

typical wimpy rendition how the man can't live without his ex slut whore.

It was fun but ...

... highly implausible.

1. Most of the plebs on here aren't millionaires so patronizing us with a protagonist with limitless funds is just lazy. Besides, if he was a millionaire, he wouldn't worry too much about his absconding wife because he'd be too busy fucking a nubile gold-digging slut with sugar daddy issues for every day of the week...

2. Loverboy would not fall for the bullshit story because seeing his conquest's cuckold in his own watering hole would be too much of a coincidence. Loverboy would also not buy any of the cuckold's horseshit because - let's face it - he could not reconcile the cuck's account with kind of mind-blowing sex he'd be getting from the the cuck's wife. Anybody would see through the cuck's attempt to get back at his wife and her lover; jilted spouses are ALWAYS bitter. You're more likely to spot a Dodo than a husband who is nonchalant about his wife's out-of-the-blue cold-blooded betrayal.

3. Enough of the bullshit free-of-suspicion from the lover beating case: the cuck would be prime suspect and wifey would ensure cucky would feel every ounce of her wrath because the fake "beating" story wouldn't wash with her or anybody who knew of her non-violent character. Besides, there would witness accounts placing cucky with his victim at the bar.

4. Enough of the Cayman Island bullshit too because cucky - as prime suspect - can be traced to any corner of the world because there is no mention of him changing his identity. He'd stick out like a sore thumb and so would his electronic and paper trails. A shark lawyer drooling at the prospect of a case where the hubby has concocted a master plan, would sniff out the cuck's bullshit millions faster than the cucky sipping on his diet Pepsi.

Gotta Love the Know It All Anony's

Previous poster Anonymous 07/29/15 goes to all that trouble to prove what a genius they are by picking holes in a FICTIONAL story. ROFL! What a Maroon!

( see Bugs Bunny for clarification on that reference).

For me, it was a real FEEL GOOD story...maybe not so much for Brad. OMG I loved it.

Thank You Very Much Author!

Fun

This is why: Our time together was a big part of both our lives as we had no children. No kids, nothing more than themselves to live for, no future, nothing to sacrifice for, why not? Just two young urban professionals getting older without getting wiser. This is what you get. Have your own kids, adopt, or help take care of someone else's kids. Raising kids is an important part of life, it is a stake in the next generation, a part of the future that gives meaning to your life past mere survival your own selfish pleasure.

Not the problem, but a symptom.

How does a woman fall in love with another man and her husband has no clue? OK, I admit that my marriage is so tight that we practically live in each others heads. Sure, anything is possible, but some things are very improbable. If there is so much distance between you and your spouse that such a loss of love and respect cannot be detected, then its a pretty shallow tepid marriage anyway. The subtle looks, gestures, words spoken, and especially changes in attitude, mood, demeanor, and behavior toward the secret lover are too numerous not to notice, unless you are so tuned out of the relationship that you are not paying attention. And that is the problem. You have to be 100% into your spouse, their life, their job, their feelings and emotions, that such a secret erosion of your relationship is obvious as soon as the first chink appears.

So, good plot, but thankfully only plausible in a marriage that is already broken. Her leaving was the symptom. It would be interesting if you had explored the real problem.

Unlikely but pretty darn funny.

Brad had to be a real dummy and even the cheating slut Janet should have put 2 and 2 together. Did she and Brad ever actually talk to each other? Did the alarm bells not go off in their heads when Brad told Janet what Mike had said about her? The dummies got what they deserved. Too funny.

Thoughts

“how they didn't want to interfere” – I’ve said it many times – NOT interfering IS interfering it is enabling!

“fall in love with another man” – And you don’t just “fall in love”, you have to do the little things, spending time together, dates, dinner and dancing and such, it takes acts of will to be in a position to “fall in love”!

“Janet has a very sensitive government job” – Even though the affair isn’t secret, so in that sense it isn’t a security risk, but the lack of judgment and morality needed to cheat in a marriage can’t be looked at kindly in any kind of a sensitive job!

Finally

Now this is what should happen to bastards who go after married women. And this is justice for the wife who was unfaithful to an unsuspecting, loving husband. Of course, where I live there are alligator pits that unfaithful wives and their lotharios have disappeared in. But the husband getting away with 1.2 million dollars, beating up loadmouth and pinning it on his soon-to-be ex-wife was fantastic. 5 Stars.

AmbivalenceAmbivalenceabout 7 years ago
They might be able to arrest her... maybe...

But absolutely zero proof that she was involved in what happened to him... Even HE can't prove it.

Hearsay...? "How do I know it was her? Because her ex told me how she used to beat him. What better proof is there?"

Asks her attorney, "Is that the same husband who had her served while she was in lockup and has since completely disappeared?"

"Well, yeah, but... Oh, shit."

Fantastic little tale

5 stars. This is probably the cleverest BTB I've read yet. It might not be very plausible, and the wife would probably not be in jail for long, but that is irrelevant. Her relationship is probably ruined, her reputation in tatters, and no savings to rely on.

anonymousinblueanonymousinblueabout 6 years ago
How many times?

I've read this numerous times for some reason or other. I didn't look for it. But it was still as good as the first time. The writing and editing was good. Sorry, that isn't very descriptive or helpful. It sounds like a retelling of some old man's tale, although I can't say why. Probably because this plot is pretty damn funny. There were some good one liners.

I generally dislike the use of drugs, fucking up people's lives, and physical violence, because it's a fucking unpleasant thing...especially if you don't deserve it. But the people here did, I guess. It didn't go too far...it wasn't sadistic beating, but to move his plotting along. And he got to wake up with the bruises, not experience them, which must be terrifying. And no broken bones. Those things make the story more acceptable to me. Then again, she was the duplicitous one, but I guess physical retribution of the other guy is an ingredient in almost every non-wimp formula. The story time flow was good. It was pretty funny. I gave it five stars, because it is one of the best.

Funny premise, but a flaw?

Funny, short take on revenge, but if Brad moved in next door, and Janet left home for Brad, then isn't she next door? Even she got a separate place for some reason, how does Brad not see the house for sale, and not tell her? And if she and Brad are newly minted lovers, where is she every night he's getting tanked and beaten? Some more dialog to explain she's out of town or something would cover that up.

AnonymousAnonymousalmost 6 years ago
The Cayman Islands Have Had an Extradition Treaty With the U.S. Since 1972!

The Caymans Islands are British (United Kingdom) Crown Colony. They have a lot of independent authority, but they Belong to the U.K. The U.S.--U.K. Treaty was signed in 1972, long before this story takes place. The Treaty provides that each country will send back to the parent country scum who have been accused or convicted of criminal offenses for which imprisonment for more than one year is authorized. Stealing $600,000 from the wife is certainly more than one year in every state! Forging the wife's signature on the numerous documents in selling the house without her participation and agreement is also going to get more than one year! Aggravated assault (beating him with a rolling pin) carries more than one year. Conspiracy to falsely imprison someone is going to be harder to put allthe elements of the crime together, but if it can be done, he's looking at more than a year for that.

It may be hard for lover and wife to put all the pieces together, but that's no more implausible than your story. If they do put it together, husband is looking at some serious time. I wouldn't sleep too comfortably if I were the hubby

Oh, by the way, since 2013, the Cayman Island banks have to report to an entity that will provide the information to the U.S. I.R.S.

@ Anon 05/27/19

Amazing set of unsupported assumptions you have there. You maybe cheat and not get forgiven? Maybe you haven't been married, or not for long anyway?

Have any evidence she did anything to "maintain the marriage"? All too often the reason the husband is the last to know is because of trust, as in his for her. If she isn't happy it isn't his job to read her mind. It's her job to tell him. If she didn't she failed, no excuses.

Mike: "I bet my life on her, she got every thing from me that I had to give."

Sounds like a guy who was trying to me. A guy who's committed to keeping his promise. Maybe Mike didn't do the right things, but it was Janet's job to tell him that so he had a chance to fix it or for them to decide together that marriage was a mistake. If he didn't see it coming she damn well didn't tell him it was.

A marriage of many years gets quiet, slow, boring. It has very likely built up frustrations over the imperfections you both have. You've talked everything to death. You've tried everything you're brave enough to ask for. Sure you can rekindle excitement, but it takes way more work than finding someone new who is exciting. With someone new they're exciting just because they're new and you're learning all about them. With someone you've lived with for twenty years you have to overcome all the arguments and frustrations of life AND find something new to share.

Really asinine story

This was a truly worthless story. I lost any hope when the husband sold the house without the wife's knowledge. That is an impossibility as no one would buy any real estate without the signatures of both husband and wife.

Then, the intelligent wife does not see assets disappearing?

Pure crap this story.

To answer Anon below

"well, how could anyone have a security clearance government or private company, if they are willing to be a cheater?"

I've had more than a few job interviews in my life, but have yet to hear "Do you have any references from your previous job, and by the way, have you ever cheated on your wife/girlfriend?"

Besides, in many government jobs, it's almost a prerequisite to be untrustworthy.

How does he sell the house without the wife also signing the deed?

Even if he owned it before the marriage, after 15 years of marriage, the wife has an interest in any appreciation since the marriage. Even if there’s no appreciation, no title insurance company would write a policy of title insurance without the wife signing off on the deed, and anybody buying would be a fool to purchase without title insurance.

AnonymousAnonymousover 2 years ago

The story's title - "It Doesn't Matter Why" strikes to an essential part of the whole cheating enchilada.......Why do people Cheat? The answer is much simpler then most people think. People cheat because they can! So, you think you need more detail than that? Well, People cheat because of greediness, because of narcissism, because of a lack of empathy for others affected by their shit decisions. They cheat because they value the ego stroking of all the illicit sex with an affair partner more than they value your well-being. But the reasons simply boil down to — greed, opportunity, and not fucking caring.

One very common mistake the the relation partner of a cheater makes is believing that the WHY is way more complicated than it is. They will invest all their energy in a pointless exercise trying to figure out the cheater and their motivations asking why they are this way or why that way, instead of asking themselves the harder and more important question of — why am I hanging around this megabitch who doesn't give a shit about me.
