I started crying and instead of getting back on the Interstate I headed east. Where we were going I had no idea. I had to get my shit back together and be the dad that my baby girl needed.
I drove for a couple hundred miles and found a good sized town with a fancy hotel. I pulled in and looked at Liz, who was still sound asleep. I went inside and asked for a good size room for at least a couple of days. The clerk said, "The only large room we got left is the honeymoon suite." And he looked at his calendar and said, "It's available for the next three days."
I shook my head, with some shame, and said, "We'll take it."
