All Comments on 'Oh My God Ch. 09'

You, like so many others, misuse the personal pronoun, 'I', when you should use, 'me,' in a sentence that includes other people, such as: "Jeff, for Kathy and I, it is fantastic." And, "Ian, you really had Lila and I worried." There is a very simple rule to use to figure out which is proper. Just leave out all the words pertaining to the second person. For instance, in the first sentence, leave out the words, ... "Kathy and"... and try it again.... "Jeff, for I, it is fantastic." ??? Ewwww, I don't think so. It sounds better as, "Jeff, for me, it is fantastic." Sounds better. So the sentence from your story should read, "Jeff, for Kathy and me, it is fantastic." (You notice the commas setting off the phrases, too, don't you - you missed them, too.) Try it in the second sentence... "Ian, you really had I worried." ??? Again, it sounds awful. It should have been... "Ian, you really had Lila and me worried."

The same rule applies to "he" and "him," "she" and "her," "them" and "they" and any other pronouns you use.

In case you were wondering where I learned that little rule, I'm 73, and was educated prior to the start of the decline of education in the U.S.A that resulted from the "No child left behind" rule that decreed that our children be advanced to the next grade, even though they hadn't learned anything in the grade they were attending. Now, thanks to that idiotic rule, kids graduate high school without being able to read, write, or make simple math calculations. But..... they aren't humiliated in school by having to repeat a grade - they're only humiliated when they find they don't qualify for a job when they don't meet the minimum requirements - such as reading, writing, and doing simple math calculations. Or maybe I'm wrong about that ... The teachers doing such a poor job of educating today's kids were educated under the rule of "No child left behind," aren't they? So maybe our poorly educated kids CAN find a job - as school teachers!!!!!

I, he she, we, you and they are appropriate for the subject of a verb. me, him, her, us, you, them are for all other cases.
