Thanks for all the feedback, both positive and negative.

As to the lack of story and realism, yes, it was done on a whim and I thought I'd use feedback to improve it or do something totally different... the aggregate feedback suggest I should try longer, more "real" characters and from my own reading, make it into more of a series.

Well, that sounds like fun, so I might try it... feel free to comment more in the meantime, either here or anonymously.
