The sentiment is beautiful, the fact that

he's a semi balding...etc makes it interesting and the wonderful thing he did for the little girl made it very memorable. But you are sure to pick up hell for not having any "real" sex in your story. Beautiful start though, Rope. I hope you plan on continuing it.

I guess I am getting jaded

This is the second time recently where I was reading something beautiful and innocent while fully expecting things to go sour. I really expected her to rebuke him for giving "her" bracelet away. Instead, she was just as compassionate and selfless as he. If only more people in real life were this good.

This short story packed a very sweet, emotional punch.

Sweet Story

and the lack of sapphires isn't all that important. He did still have the roses for her, after all, and the two gifts accomplished their purpose.

One of the best stories here!

The O'Henry twist makes this the best story I've found in Literotica, and one of the best very short stories I've read in the last 50 years. THANKS

There are gifts, and then there are GIFTS

Good work on well-paced, original story, Rope. Good luck in the contest.

Very sweet

That was a very good first story Rope. I enjoyed it, but the lack of sex would probably get you low votes. A pity. I liked the emotion in there.
