Give your characters a break in a whore house in Liverpool across the channel, or something.
Liked it. A lot. For one thing, it's credible; something that only someone who'd spent time over there would write - is this true ? If not, then you've either got A) pals who've been over there. or B) access to very good sources of information. The IRA tactics stuff is well known, but the attitude of the PBI (poor bloody infantry) is not exactly well publicised.
Now our Arnie, of course, would've got back up, kicked in doors, run upstairs and ripped the shooter's limbs off before spitting in his face, but real life isn't like that. I should know............
Yes, a soldiers life, and very well written.. Never fun, especially when the fighting lines are unclear and those fighting speak the same language..But you seem to have come out of it with your sanity left.. Let us hope that there is more like you, on all sides.. Cheers Yoron.
You need to do more research. Having been on Op Banner for 5.5 years I've Walked The Walk.
What immediately stood out was you said it was a 7.92mm round it would have been 7.62mm
The other thing was the Military Wing was at Musgrave Park, not the Royal.
Otherwise a clear feeling of the time.
I've fired hundreds of rounds from the FN C1 over the years and well know it's a 7.62, No idea how I screwed that one. Thanks for the heads up
