THELOVELY1GLOover 13 years agoI never saw this coming to the degree that it has. Though she's not use to his lifestyle, she's also afraid for her sanity as well as her life always being watched. I feel sorry for the both of them, but also question,"is she worth Nic giving the business over to his best men?"

avidreader_01over 12 years agothis chick is getting on my nerves. hello he's a mobster! so of course there's going to be violence & death. really she should be mad @ herself for going out on her own when someone had just done a drive-by on her... she's so naive & I wonder if she's worth all the changes Nic's about to make in his life
Anonymousover 12 years agoIf we applied this to real life, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be able to handle it either, so don't judge. Saying and doing are two different things. Yes she knows he's a mob boss and their is death and violence involved in his life, but actually being involved in that violence is another thing. Anyone could have shot at her, she didn't know who it was, or if the person was really shooting at her or the restuarant in general. This was direct and deliberate violence enacted upon her. She was beaten, and witnessed a man's brains being blown out and said brains touching her. That is a very traumatic experience for anyone to go through.

Anonymousalmost 11 years agoread this story over and over since i first read it over 3 years ago, this is my go back to story, no other story has captured my imagination, would like to see it in a movie, but not really lol, because movies take away the essence of a story and seem to choice the wrong characters. lol just saying.

Anonymousover 10 years agofirst, it's a great story and it's capturing very, very well. Even me, that english is not my first language. They should make a movie from this story, with Christian Bale and Zoe Saldana or Rihanna as the main characters.
But I have to say a little word of criticism to this part. For me it's not logical that Victoria wants to left Nic after this episode since she must believe to had been the victim of a misunderstanding. Even if the kidnapper were tricked to take exactly her, it doesn't matter, cause she doesn't know that.
She doesn't say she will leave him because Nic killed a man in hers presence, it's cause of the forced restricted lifestyle she would have. But with staying one week in Mariannas house she even accepted that.
However, still a fantastic story!

Anonymousover 10 years agoI don't usually comment, but for whatever reason felt the need. The story is good and very well written...you follow along with each emotion.
My only criticism (and not just your book) is that the female is always portrayed as stupid. He's a crime boss, she's in hiding with a personal protector because someone shot at her, she's bored...ho hum...guess I should sneak out of the safe house and leave my protector/escort behind...you know, because I'm bored and can't have anyone accompanying me! Really? Not believable. Most people, including females, would understand the extreme situation she's in! Unless I'm giving the female race to much credit. I'm a female and it ticks me off! Every movie, every tv show, every book the female is portrayed weak or stupid or my personal favorite Both! Urrrggghhh

Anonymousover 9 years agoVictoria is straight laced never seen killing in her life til Nic and she has not lost her self worth, she has been shot at,kidnapped, nearly raped and had brain matter splattered all over her beautiful hair so she's entitled to a meltdown ow, everyone is entitled to it. :D :D :D Now leave Victoria alone!! lol.

Anonymousover 5 years agoThis story is a rollercoaster ride. I'm frustrated as hell with Victoria, and my heart is breaking for Nic. I really don't feel bad for her. When I cried for her it was because of how Nic was treating such a sweet girl. I stopped feeling bad for her when she walked into the billiards room even though she was repeatedly asked and advised not to. When she went off on her own instead of with Jimmy, it was the same. I didn't feel bad for her. I got mad at her, and I'm mad at her now. Wish I could marry Nic. GAH!!!
