The definitive Loving Wife story about someone who is truly a loving wife. With a good husband and also a second loving wife. All in all just a brilliant story. BardnotBard

I see I read this 9 months ago. I read so much that I forget, but I kept thinking this was a bit like another story I’d read. This is one of the best in Literotica. Always 5 stars.

This was a tough read but very well written. I witnessed something similar with someone my wife and I know.

His wife was dying, and she fixed him up with one of her friends so he wouldn't be alone, and he would have someone to be with while he grieved.

It was tough for everyone involved. They were too old to start another family, but they have been happy together for over five years.

I struggled with my rating of this story. Initially, I could see the plot play out as soon as soon as Cathy sat down next to him in the opening scene. I understand who she was. I thought this was going to be another tedious male fantasy that was telegraphed in the opening page. Then, you hooked me.

I normally only give five stars for two types of stories. Those that I continue to read even though I'm tired and should get some sleep, or those that draw a tear from my eye.

You managed to do both. Excellent story.

Great writing as usual with this author. I love all his works. But I didn't like this story. I really don't like the manipulation, and even in the hotel room, she's still all business and doesn't care about the guy at all. Just doing her job as a whore. Yuk

I now see why the author left. He/she is WAY, WAY, WAY too good for this site. And this was not one of my favs. I skipped most of it as I sensed the approaching train wreck. I just thought it was going to be a different traain wreck. Even if you don’t agree with the premise, and I’m not sure that I do, the story was still a masterpiece.

Damn I wasn't prepared for the feels and the waterworks at the end there. Son of a bitch you got me good. Mary knew her time was short and she loved him so much that she couldn't bear to leave him alone when she died. So she spent most of her remaining time finding his perfect replacement. I mean wow. That really is an incredible gift. Love like that is rare and precious.

Emotional story. However the premise is just wrong. That would never work for me. No way would I allow that to transpire. Nor would my wife promote or suggest having another woman entertain me with the same parameters of this story - Simply just wrong. Completely distorted presumption that this should be deemed as an acceptable choice.

AnonymousAnonymous5 months ago

The pace & timing of the story was excellent. It reminded me of the Steve Martin - Lily Tomlin movie "All of Me."

And thank you for not providing the breast size, dick inches, and quantity of conquests like so many mom's-basement sweatpants-champions think their writers will be impressed by.

I'd say "more please," but this was like watching The Matrix, and thinking that you expected to have more soon.

What a story. What a twist. My head has just been blown. I was sure how this was going. The escort hired and its a test or wife hires the substitute as she can't have sex or wife turns up to take him into bed after he proves he was faithful or even he was set up to fail so she could divorce him as she had a lover. But no instead this one went somewhere I never thought of and was way way better for the ending you had. What a loving couple. What a great husband. Mary was a Saint. Cathy also turns out to be a good person too. A short story but without doubt one of the very very best. So wish you still wrote on here. BardnotBard

We’ve done all our planning on her outliving me since I’m 5 years her senior. Her recent diagnosis of lung cancer has shaken me To my core. The last 15 years have been without sex because she lost all interest. That plus she’s totally undemonstrative in any affection make life hard.

I know some men bail at a wife’s diagnosis, but I can’t imagine that if there’s true love.

I wish I’d never read this story.

EoRaptor013EoRaptor01312 months ago

Good grief! I need to stop reading comments; the lack of comprehension shown by so many of the negative comments is breathtaking. Mary didn't give her husband an escort. If that's all she wanted to do, she wouldn't have taken months to find her! Mary searched for, and found, someone who could love Doug as much as she did and who Doug could love as much as he loved Mary. This may not be love story for the ages, but it's damned good.

EoRaptor013EoRaptor01312 months ago

Anonymous from two months prior.

What a crock. This story had absolutely nothing to do with honor or fidelity. It didn't really have to do with sex. Mary was dying, knew she was dying, and knew she wouldn't be long. As she lay dying, she gave her husband the most precious gift her love could provide. As it happened, she also gave a wounded woman healing and love.

Get your head out of your rectal cavity and try to appreciate the depth of love Mary and her husband had for each other.

I am sorry to say this would have never been Me in the first Place I have always been a man of old school Honor I would not given a dam that My wife had set me up because Her lack of wanting sex with Me or wanting sex Period. As I said I am a Man of honor and I can prove it When our son was Born due to the fact His Feet was in the birth Canal and His head under My wife's rib cage They had to do a C section and because of My son being 3 weeks late he came out pissing and craping. The Doctor who was supposed to deliver Our Son was not here and the Idiot in the Office with Him did the delivery and did not put in a drain tube as He should have When I took Her to get the staples out I thought Her screaming was Her being a Baby. The Doctor without giving her anything opened Her back up to the womb. My wife and I had always talked about having Kids and we both were on the same page We wanted at least two maybe if it happened More! Without talking to me She took it on herself to decide There would be no More babies period to make this happen she did many things first it was we have to wait till our son was older then it was yeast Infections out the wazo again and again then when she ran out of that problem She had put on over 300 lbs and the Only way she ever would have sex was Missionary position which with Her size too sex of the List of activities I went through over 35 years of a sexless Marriage there was even years I never received a Kiss or hug from Her If I went to bed she stayed and slept in the front room in a recliner Not very easy with a Lady that size and you having sex with Her in a Recliner Right? Sorry again to say when I found out what My wife had done with the Note under the door I would have been dressed and on My way to the Airport waiting for the Next flight home ! When I would arrived Home my wife would have been able to see a Atomic Bomb go off in front of her. My Home for Probably for the Next Month been the quietest House in Our City. THere not been a word she could have gotten out of Me as I said I am of the Old School honor and I would never have walked out on My wife But I would have taken a Long time before she ever heard Me speak to Her again. She Knew what I was like before we married. two days before Our wedding I pulled away from everyone and talked to her about what were going to Do I told in in no certain terms If you walk up the Isle to me and we say Our I Do's and exchange the ring's The only way out of the marriage is that one of Us would be dead! I kept My word She died 10/27/2021 I kept My honor as a Man!

AnonymousAnonymousover 1 year ago

Interesting premise of a wife giving her husband a beautiful escort as a birthday gift, but it failed. It also failed as a last gift to demonstrate the dying wife's love. Instead of looking for a woman who has the same interests as her husband and was attractive, the wife searched escorts to find one with her husband's interests. Story made little sense. It was implied Mary, the wife, resisted sex for years, but desperately wished she was receptive. Her illness was not noticeable to her husband. Did she not know about lube, that would have let her have tolerable sex with him? Was oral sex impossible for her to try, for the husband she loved so much? What made Mary think her husband would want to fall in love with an experienced escort?

AnonymousAnonymousover 1 year ago

This features a lot of classic DC themes and tropes: dead/dying spouse, hooker with a heart of gold, loyal/grieving partner unable to move on…

Being familiar with his writing, I knew there are always twists and reveals that fill out the picture as you go. This one however has such a disturbing setup it just feels super manipulative and kind of gross to finish. Even if all these characters have their heart in the right place, the amount of manipulation and lack of trust in the original marriage makes it difficult to understand their romance because we see none of the good “memories” of the early years, we are only told this by a narrator who gets increasingly intoxicated. In fact, the only behavior we get from the “real Mary”, not the one from Doug’s memories, is manipulation and withholding of possibly the most critical kind of information/life-event you are meant to share with a life partner.

I’m pointing this out more so the people who love this story can get an idea of why some people may be disturbed by the behavior of these characters, and why this is actually quite a toxic and tragic scenario inauthentically twisted into a “happy” ending without earning it.

It’s clear this was an abandoned early draft, I’m sure DC realized these issues and felt there was no way to clean up or redeem them so he just left it. He does a much better exploration of many of these themes in The Promise, which he likely wrote as a way to do this “story idea” justice. Please don’t sleep on this author based on this story. And if you liked this, that one is even better.

I have read several of your other stories and appreciated those. This one not so much..... Deceitfulness regardless of the circumstances is pathetic between a man and woman. Mary in this story (know it is just a story) was very wrong to do this and she undermined the integrity of the man who had been true to her and should have been allowed to keep his integrity. Justification here is not acceptable. Enough said........

After personally putting so much time and effort into finding true love, loosing it left me so emotionally broken and drained to try and find it again at 47 I've spent over a decade just trying to heal and find myself again. I think somehow that some have missed the point here with the situation with Mary (the wife).

It seems as though she is not well, and hasn't been for some time, and has not let Doug know about the true problems she has i.e. going off sex, but not losing her love for him, due to the changes her body is going through, even though it takes a wee while for the reader to work that out.

Mary (the wife) now sees that she can resolve this by having Cathy meet him and try somehow to conjure up a romance, but Doug's faithfulness to his wife almost brings that undone. Also, I'm not that sure that Cathy is a prostitute either, but that's an aside to the main story. The fact that it took Mary some time to find Cathy lends my thought to the fact that Cathy is not a prostitute at all. A prostitute or high class Call Girl (escort - whatever) could be found much easier than having to go through a long search, unless one was looking for a particular type of girl (character, looks etc, and that could/would take more than 4 months or so I think). Where and how Mary finds Cathy is incidental to the story, the fact that she finds her replacement and does her damndest to get this romance to work without Doug knowing what is happening makes this a fine story, told with much pathos and bringing out the several emotions of Doug - I /we shouldn't/can't and so on, even with Mary's complicit permission albeit over the phone.

To name his daughter after his late wife is also nice touch, and one that Cathy would appreciate, while someone else may not.

I have been reading DCs stories and working my way through them slowly. I wish I could write as well as this, but I am giving it a go, slowly perhaps, but at least I persevere.

5* - more if I could.

Very good. But left me a lot of questions about how a prostitute become his new wife.

AnonymousAnonymousabout 2 years ago

Sooo.. Instead of having a frank discussion about allowing her husband to take a girlfriend for his “ needs”, she sets him up to cheat. This is what the fine officers in blue, call “ entrapment”.

Let’s say a guy is sitting at the bar, watching sports. A hot, 20 year old sits down next to him, and strikes up a conversation. After an hour, and several drinks later, she offers him a car blowjob for $50.00. The guy thinks it’s his lucky day. Gets in his car, and gives her the money. Pulls down his pants, and his car is surrounded by police. That’s what it looks like, when your wife sets you up to cheat. And getting him so drunk, he was comatose. Not a big fan of entrapment, or attempted rape. Soooo.... I only give this story, one star.

Holy crap!!! What to say?!?!?!

I didn't know his work until I read "The Mountain".

I confess that 12-page work was challenging for me, as I had never read anything of yours.

As I made my way through the text, I realized that this was a great job, an above-average writer.

Plot, plot, characters... all very tight. And at the end, the brutal revelation of everything. Fantastic!!!

And this work of yours here??? A rollercoaster of emotions. The archetype of the married man, with a loss of intimacy with his wife, who finds a woman attractive, beautiful, hot, and "coincidentally" compatible and identical with his wife. Together at a convention and enjoying mutually agreeable company, it looked like shit was going to go down...

The whole thing unfolds, we see the "sacrifice" of the wife, to the detriment of the needs of the husband, but never imagining what was hidden behind the "gift".

I was swept away by a feeling hard to explain when I discovered, along with Cathy and Doug, the real meaning of everything... I'll just say wue it was brutal. As if my heart had been ripped out of my chest. I put myself in Doug, Cathy, and especially Mary.

Her full love for her husband and care in finding Cathy so he could move on. And he kept his love for her, now honoring her in his little daughter.

Five stars right away. One of my favorite stories and it has also become one of the ones I follow.

I will be reading your work and looking forward to more.

And I'm sure, this time, that's not just my opinion.
