"I'll go get the beers then," I said, trying to catch Dan's eye but he was fixated on my wife. Marie didn't seem uncomfortable, in fact she waved at me, and then said something that made Julie blush.
"Don't do anything naughty you two, okay? We're trusting you, going off your own," she slurred, and then laughed at something Dan said, too quiet for us to hear.
I felt slightly sorry for Julie at that point, but I had no need to. As soon as we walked out of the spa, she grabbed my hand and tugged me down the corridor so fast that I almost tripped over.
