I love how you're shaping this story between these two who have a bare minimum of words with which to communicate with each other. Lack of words makes them rely more heavily on other senses & you're describing their beginning with each other beautifully.

They're coming together wonderfully. The harshness of the tribe is balanced by Ahote's gentleness.
