He shook his head.

"The poor miserable bitch. She lost her husband and her mind and her life...and she dragged you down with her. I almost can't hate her....almost. But you shouldn't have believed her."

"I'm sorry I did. But I loved her. She was almost more of a mother to me than my real mother."

........

"I've got things to do, Debbie. I've got a life to start putting back together again...for the second time. So why don't you take you and those tits of yours and get out of my office."

"Now that sounds more like the Bill Maitland I knew and lo-"

She had reached the door to his office when she looked back at him.

"If she had left her husband and chosen you...or if she comes back...would you...?"

"I don't know, Debbie. I've known her for less than two months. On the other hand, I knew you for two years before I married you and look what that got me."

"Thirteen or fourteen years of a good marriage and two kids I think you love."

"True. I guess....I'd marry her in a heartbeat. And if she comes back in a month of two, I still will....if she'll have me."

When he turned away from the window she had left without another word.

Love the series! Can’t wait to see where this all leads. I have not read all the comments for all of the chapters, so maybe someone beat me on these ideas:

1) Debbie is a professor, so probably a PhD, at least an MA and since they got married right out of college, she earned her degrees while married. Don’t tell me that she didn’t take time away from husband to pull THAT off ( night clssses, thesis and dissertation,etc.). The first episode says she is well published, so even if UNF gave her some office time, she still did a lot of work at home. Plus every paper must be presented at a conference, more than likely out of state, so Debbie must have been a real joy to live with every time a submission deadline was nearing! Bill might have even helped edit her work. So the image Debbie tries to portray of the housewife working her fingers to the bone, while hubby is late for dinner every night is bogus. At the time, she probably welcomed nights alone in order to do her own work. In all, the “you were married to your work” argument goes 50-50, maybe skewed a little bit toward Bill, but nothing approaching the neglect that Debbie won’t stop bitchingbabout. For her, every out of town conference allowed her to brush up on her flirting techniques (if we can accept her word that she never cheated.)

2) The question keeps being asked by Debbie, “Why do Inhate Bill so much?” My guess is that she went willingly into that gangbang at college and was looking forward to it. It got too rough so she was grateful that Bill broke it up. At the time, she looked on Bill as her hero, but in later years she is resentful that Bill broke up her party! Even after the nightmare experience of her aunt’s adult, I still think she wants to be the center of attention for a dozen or more BIG guys.

3) Never marry a woman taller than you (I know, I know there are lots of exceptions!!)

Page 2.....a lovely dichotomy of how Debbie and Bill respond to their partners. Delicious! BUT....dangerous.

Debbie runs to Clint, then uses and abuses him, in a false sense of revenge toward Bill. She wants her cake and eat it too. This isn't exactly healthy. Sad thing is that somehow, Clint recognizes this, but isn't offended, when anyone else would be. His manhood was just slashed.

Bill is having a somewhat healthy response at this point. IMHO, WAY to early for this (Only 6 months from breakup), considering the damage done in the divorce.

Page 7....Debbie walked into his office and went to hold him while talking to him. I can not see ANYONE holding another person OR him letting her hold him after such a nasty divorce, and then coming back to do this while there is still so much hurt. It has only been 6 months.

Then discussing the hubris that Debbie has by speaking to him about her cheating. Placing the blame on him, while attempting to minimize her own faults.

The words that Aunt Clarice said to Debbie, and Debbie believed, before Clarice's death sealed the fate of their marriage, even before Bill lost himself in his job. Nothing that Bill could have done would have changed that.

I love the story.

But, Man! You make a lot of grammatical and continuity errors - on every page...
